Going to college at 55 years old😳

#letschat

To be fair, I’m not quite 55. I have a few more days to go, but by the time school starts I’m will be 55 years old. I’m not sure if this will be added to the list of the stupidest things I’ve done in life or if it will be one of the smartest. But let’s face it, I can’t retire anytime soon so I might as well gain some knowledge and see if that will make me a more desired hire since aging doesn’t seem to be a desirable attribute 🤷🏼‍♀️😳🤭

Please tell me I’m not making history here by being the oldest lady in college🤣🥹……..anyone????🤪 #olderstudent #lemon8comment #college #collegestudent

... Read moreGoing back to college at an older age, such as 55, is increasingly common in today's world where lifelong learning is valued. Many individuals choose to pursue higher education later in life for various reasons, including career advancement, personal fulfillment, and the desire to acquire new skills. This trend shows that education is not confined to the traditional age brackets, and mature students can bring rich life experiences to the academic environment. Older college students often face unique challenges, such as balancing education with work and family commitments. However, they also have the advantage of life experience that can enhance their academic performance and classroom discussions. Studies have shown that non-traditional students often excel due to their motivation and dedication to succeed in their educational pursuits. Furthermore, colleges and universities are increasingly supporting older students through flexible learning options, such as online courses and evening classes, making education more accessible than ever. Joining clubs and communities on campus can also help older students connect with peers, share experiences, and lessen feelings of isolation. Overall, returning to college at 55 is a brave step that can lead to personal growth, enhanced employability, and a fulfilling educational experience. This decision highlights the importance of valuing education at any age and encourages others to pursue their academic interests, regardless of age.
