Working from Home Cons? 🤔

Don’t get me wrong… I absolutely LOVE working from home and tbh the pros outweigh the cons BUT that doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

Here are a couple of the cons I’ve noticed while working from home since 2020 😱

👉🏽 Distractions: My BED is in the other room…. It sounds nice but sometimes I find myself being in the bed ALL day. I mean ALL day. You definitely need to strengthen your discipline to get up, get dressed, and LOOK good so you can FEEL good even when you are at home majority of the day. Developing a routine is a musttttt unless you’re okay with turning into a couch potato with bed sores 😖

👉🏽 Isolation: Interactions are limited honey. Unless you force yourself to go work in a coffee shop or maybe a library, there’s not much social interaction when you work from home (obviously) especially when you live by yourself. I definitely sometimes miss socializing with coworkers (heavy on sometimes 😏)

👉🏽 Collaboration: Sometimes I wish I can just meet up with my coworkers, get what we need completed done, then go about our business lol I can admit that depending on the work you do, in person is definitely better than Microsoft team chats or video calls where you see nothing but a profile picture.

👉🏽 Overwork: I’ve learned not to do this anymore but when your work environment and home environment are the same thing, sometimes it’s easy to work longer than you would in the office because there’s no physical separation between the two.

That’s all I’ll leave you guys with for now but like I said the Pros 100% outweigh the cons and there’s honestly so much you can do to avoid those cons from interfering. Will always be grateful for a WFH job ❤️

... Read moreWhile working from home can offer great flexibility and comfort, it also comes with unique challenges that can impact productivity and mental health. One of the most noted drawbacks is the potential for distractions. When your workspace is also your living space, it can be tempting to indulge in comforts like your bed or television during work hours. To combat this, establishing a disciplined routine is crucial; setting specific work hours and creating a dedicated workspace can help maintain focus and professionalism. Isolation is another concern that remote workers face, especially those who live alone. The lack of spontaneous office interactions can lead to feelings of loneliness, making it vital to seek out social opportunities outside of work hours. Engaging with colleagues via video calls or choosing to work in public spaces, like cafés or libraries, can help bridge that gap. Additionally, collaboration can suffer in a remote setting. While digital communication tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom facilitate teamwork, nothing replaces the effectiveness of in-person discussions. Whenever possible, scheduling regular meetings or co-working days can improve connections with teammates and enhance project outcomes. Lastly, the blurring of boundaries between work and home life may lead to prolonged working hours, causing burnout. Setting clear lines for work hours and taking regular breaks can help separate your professional and personal life, ensuring you maintain a healthy work-life balance. Recognizing and addressing these cons while leveraging the flexibility of remote work can lead to a more productive and satisfying work experience.
