... Read moreWutai Shan is not just a single temple but a sacred area comprising many temples and monasteries, making it one of the Four Sacred Mountains in Chinese Buddhism. Visitors often find the atmosphere here deeply calming and immersive, perfect for those seeking spiritual growth or simply a peaceful retreat. During my visit, I learned that Wutai Shan is particularly famous for its White Pagoda and the ancient monasteries perched on its five flat peaks. Each temple has its unique architecture and historical background, reflecting the rich heritage of Chinese Buddhism. Aside from spiritual exploration, the natural beauty surrounding Wutai Shan provides excellent opportunities for hiking and photography. The mountain scenery changes dramatically with the seasons, offering a diverse experience year-round. For practical travel tips, it's best to plan your visit during early spring or late autumn to avoid the peak tourist seasons while still enjoying comfortable weather. Local guesthouses and vegetarian eateries enrich the experience, giving a taste of monastic life. Whether you are a devoted Buddhist, a cultural enthusiast, or a nature lover, Wutai Shan offers a meaningful and memorable experience that goes beyond sightseeing.

An exterior view of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Chino Hills, showcasing its intricate pinkish-white stone carvings, multiple spires, and detailed sculptures under a cloudy sky. Lush green landscaping and other temple structures are visible in the background.
A section of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir featuring a grand, ornate wooden balcony with intricate carvings and hanging lanterns. The balcony is supported by carved wooden pillars, set against a white building facade with steps leading up to the entrance.

One of the biggest buddhist temples is in LA?
I went to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Chino Hills in Los Angeles and like, that place is SO BEAUTIFUL! It’s this HUGE, stunning Hindu temple that looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale. The carvings on the walls are insane, so detailed and so pretty, plus it’s totally free to visit.

Rain at the Buddhist Temple
It started pouring all of a sudden which gave us time to sit, settle and listen to the rain, feel the breeze, and smell the freshness of the earth. A lovely experience. #seoul #gilsangsa #buddhisttemple
