Yeah… he broke up with me over text too, on the first day of black history month😭
Jesus take the joystick 🕹️… I won’t be dating anyone for the foreseeable future because my goodness I am over it!
Breaking up over text can feel especially harsh, and when it happens on a day as meaningful as the start of Black History Month, it carries an extra emotional weight. From my personal experience, receiving a breakup message like that can leave you feeling blindsided and disrespected, making it difficult to process your feelings immediately. I’ve also learned that it's okay to take a step back from dating when you're overwhelmed. Focusing on self-care and healing is crucial before jumping back into the dating scene. Living with cerebral palsy adds another layer to my dating experiences. It has sometimes felt like opening myself up in a dating world that isn’t always understanding or welcoming of disabilities. Yet, embracing my identity, including my condition, has helped foster relationships based on genuine acceptance rather than pity or misunderstanding. One thing I’ve found helpful is connecting with supportive communities, like those on Black TikTok, where you see real stories from people who understand cultural and physical challenges. It makes navigating heartbreak and love less isolating. Sharing vulnerabilities and humor, like my ex’s abrupt text or my feeling of being "traumatized," can also be therapeutic. Through all this, I’ve realized that resilience grows from these difficult moments. While getting unexpected news on such a symbolic day hurt more, it also motivated me to prioritize my mental health and happiness. If you’re going through a breakup or tough dating phase, remember it’s perfectly valid to feel upset — but also to set boundaries and choose peace. After all, reclaiming your story and joy is a powerful form of self-love.
