From a wish to a goal

As a daydreamer I always envision my life and what I want it to be. Yet it can be very easy to which for a life that stays in your imagination and never becomes a reality. A dream without a plan is just a wish. Take your wish to the next level and make them into attainable goals. Here is how.

- First I would write down in a list a couple dreams I have that I want. By writing them down you are speaking them into existence and taking them out from solely being in your mind.

- I then would make realistic plans on how do achieve these goals. I would write some step by step on how I can attain what I am hoping for. For example if a dream of mine is to save a certain about of money I will plan how will i budget, will I get another job or change my job?

- The third tip is to stay realistic. It is time to stop being delusional and live in truth. Most things in life take work but they are attainable. Believe you can get it done and put in the work. Dreaming will not change your reality but working towards it will.

... Read moreIt's amazing how often I used to wish for career success without a clear path. Like many, I had countless career dreams, but soon realized a dream without a plan is just that. If you're ready to turn your career wishes into reality, I've found a structured approach makes all the difference. It’s not magic; it’s mindful action. Here’s a 5-step plan that helped me bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement in my own career journey. Step 1: Clearly Define Your Career Wish & Vision Before you can *make your wish a reality*, you need to know exactly what it is. Don't just say, "I want a better job." Get specific! Do you want to be a senior manager, a freelance designer, or start your own business? Take your wishes and dreams from your head and make a list of them. Write down every detail: environment, responsibilities, impact. The clearer your vision, the easier to map the path. Visualizing my ideal career day really solidified what I was working towards. Step 2: Break Your Wish into Achievable Milestones Once your vision is clear, it’s time to make a step-by-step plan to make a realistic goal you can work towards achieving. This is the "how." If your career wish is to become a software engineer, milestones might include: learning a language, completing a bootcamp, building a portfolio, and networking. Each should be a smaller, manageable step. I used to feel overwhelmed by the big picture, but breaking it down made it much less daunting and more actionable. Step 3: Set Realistic Timelines and Gather Resources Assign deadlines to each milestone. Be honest about how long things will take. It’s crucial to stay realistic throughout the process and don't give up if things take longer than expected. What resources do you need? This could be dedicated time each week, money for courses, books, mentors, or building a supportive network. When I pivoted my career, I allocated specific evenings for online courses and budgeted for professional development. Identifying these upfront prevents roadblocks. Step 4: Take Consistent Action and Learn from Setbacks This is where consistent effort pays off. It’s not enough to have a plan; you have to work it. Even small actions every day or week add up significantly. Don't wait for perfection; just start! You'll face challenges, and that's okay. I've learned these moments are opportunities for growth. Instead of getting discouraged, I ask: "What can I learn from this? How can I adjust my approach?" This mindset shift is vital for any career journey. Step 5: Review, Adapt, and Celebrate Your Progress Your career path isn't a straight line, and your plan shouldn't be rigid. Regularly review your progress. Are your milestones still relevant? Do you need to adjust timelines or approaches based on new information? Be flexible and willing to adapt. And importantly, celebrate every small victory! Acknowledging your progress keeps you motivated and reminds you that you are actively working to *make your wish a reality*. Whether it's completing a course or mastering a new skill, appreciate how far you've come. This continuous feedback loop ensures you stay on track and empowered to achieve your ultimate career aspirations.
