The Silent “I’m Okay” 🕊️🩹

"You’re handling it so well."

"You make motherhood look so easy."

"I don’t know how you do it all."

The truth? I didn't handle it "well", I just handled it quietly. While the world saw the Colgate Smiles, the clean house, and the “perfect balance”, they didn’t see the moments in the hallway where I had to catch my breath. They didn’t see the internal panic of trying to reconcile who I used to be with this new, fragile version of myself.

The unspoken truth of postpartum: Sometimes "handling it" just means you’re getting good at hiding the struggle. We stay silent because we don't want to seem ungrateful for the blessing, or because we’re afraid that admitting we’re overwhelmed means we’re failing.

But I’m learning that true luxury isn't just a peaceful home, it's the freedom to be honest. 🥂

If you’re currently "handling it" but feeling the weight of it all: I see you. You don't have to be "perfect" to be a phenomenal mother. You just have to be present. 🤍

... Read moreMany new mothers find themselves caught in the paradox of appearing perfectly composed while battling intense internal struggles after childbirth. From my own experience and countless shared stories, postpartum isn’t just about managing sleepless nights or baby care—it’s often about managing deep emotional upheavals that few dare to verbalize. The phrase "You handled it so well" can sometimes feel dismissive for those who quietly endure immense anxiety, sadness, or feelings of isolation. What helped me cope was allowing myself the grace to admit vulnerability. I learned that the luxury of honesty, as the article notes, is incredibly freeing—it opens the door to support and stronger connections with others in similar situations. It’s also vital to understand that postpartum challenges, including postpartum depression, aren’t signs of failure but rather common experiences that require attention and compassion. In chatting with psychologists and joining postpartum support groups, I discovered that sharing even the smallest fears or frustrations can alleviate the weight we carry alone. Practical strategies like mindful breathing, gentle exercise, and seeking professional help when needed all play important roles. Integrating small moments of self-care while staying present with your baby helps rebuild the fragile self in ways that smiles and clean houses can’t reveal. Ultimately, posting about your feelings, joining communities under hashtags like #PostpartumTruths or #MentalHealthMatters, and simply acknowledging your journey transforms silent struggles into shared resilience. Remember, being a phenomenal mother doesn’t require perfection but presence and honesty with yourself and others.
