Jobs I had before I was a doctor 👩🏻‍⚕️

Before I got accepted into medical school I had MULTIPLE jobs, both relating to medicine and not. It was a great way to get experience, make money and add to my resume, so here are some recommendations:

- tutor- I had been a tutor since high school!

- medical scribe ( I worked in the ED, great experience)

- medical assistant ( I hated this job but it was also great experience )

- my favorite job was working at boxing and spin studio! such a great environment.

Before pursuing my medical degree, I dived into various jobs that provided me with invaluable experience and insight into different fields. Working as a tutor helped me enhance my communication skills, vital for patient interactions in the future. My time as a medical scribe in the Emergency Department exposed me to the fast-paced medical environment, increasing my understanding of clinical practices. Though my experience as a medical assistant wasn't my favorite, it allowed me to gain hands-on experience with patient care, which is crucial for any future physician. One of the highlights was working at a boxing and spin studio, which taught me the importance of staying fit and healthy—a key principle I carry into my medical practices today. Experiences like these not only filled my resume but also laid a solid foundation for my medical career. If you’re considering a future in medicine, take time to explore diverse job roles; they can offer insights and skills that will be beneficial throughout your journey. Whether tutoring, working in healthcare, or engaging in fitness, each role enhances your capability and perspective as a physician.

How did you get the jobs without a BLS certification?? I’ve been applying for jobs at Baylor but they all say you have to have a BLS certificate even if I can somehow get it later on
