Something my friend said recently
Unite, Not Divide
I want to speak from the heart, because too much is being twisted into something it was never meant to be.
Over the last few weeks I’ve spoken to people all across Lincoln — Polish, Latvian, Romanian, Egyptian, Nigerian and many more — and not a single one has told me they’re offended by the flags people have put up. Not one. Every person I’ve spoken to has said the same thing: they don’t see a problem with it. Some even said they love seeing their own flag, or the St George’s flag, flying proudly. To them, it shows identity, community, and pride — not hate.
I haven’t even hung a St George’s flag myself, but I’ve helped others who wanted to, and I’ve encouraged people from other countries to put theirs up too. Why shouldn’t they? Everyone deserves to feel proud of where they come from.
And here’s what really gets me: the only people claiming the flags are “racist” or “offensive” seem to be a small handful of left-leaning English people speaking on behalf of others who never asked them to. They keep saying people from other nationalities are upset — but when you actually go out and talk to those people, they’re not upset at all. So who’s really creating the problem?
The flags were never about race. They were never aimed at any nationality. They were a message to the government — a way of saying people have had enough: enough lies, enough nonsense, enough being ignored. There is no issue with refugees or migrants. They’ve always been welcome. Most are simply trying to survive and build a better life. They’re not the problem — the people in charge are. The ones with power. The ones with money. The ones who create the mess and then expect the rest of us to fight each other over it.
A small group keeps stirring division, calling anyone with pride in their country “racist” and twisting everything to fit their agenda. They spread hate while pretending they’re fighting it. It’s sad. It’s a shame to see people who dislike their own country and expect everyone else to follow.
So here’s the real question: how are we ever supposed to unite if we let them keep dividing us?
The truth is simple: we’re all dealing with the same issues. No matter where we were born, no matter what flag we fly, we’re all being let down by the same system. We’re all living with decisions made by people who will never feel the consequences of those decisions.
We’re not enemies. We’re not on different sides. We’re the same people, facing the same problems.
It’s time to stop fighting each other and start standing together.
Unite, not divide. That’s the only way anything will ever change. ❤️
