Don't forget to cleanse ✨
Okay, my fellow witches and magic makers! I wanted to share one of my absolute top 'witchy tips' that I picked up early on in my spellcrafting journey, and it's something I never, ever skip: cleansing your jar before any spellwork! Seriously, when crafting spell jars, this step is just as vital as gathering your herbs or setting your intention. Think of it like preparing a canvas before painting a masterpiece – you want a clean slate, free from any lingering energies or vibrations that might interfere with your spell's true purpose. I've learned that every item, even a humble glass jar, carries its own energetic signature. It might have picked up energy from the factory, the shop shelf, or even just from being handled. To ensure your spell jar is a pure vessel for your intentions, a thorough cleansing is absolutely essential. It helps clear away any residual energy, making space for the new, positive energy you're about to infuse into it. So, how do I go about this crucial cleansing? There are several wonderful methods, and often, I'll combine a few, or choose one that feels most aligned with the spell I'm about to perform. Smoke Cleansing: This is probably my most frequently used method. I'll light a smudge stick, like white sage or palo santo, or even some cleansing incense (frankincense or copal are great!). Then, I'll carefully pass the open jar through the smoke, ensuring it fills the inside and swirls around the outside. As I do this, I visualize any old, stagnant energy being lifted away and dissipated, leaving the jar sparkling clean energetically. I usually say a little affirmation too, like "I cleanse this jar of all unwanted energies, making it pure for my purpose." Sound Cleansing: Sound is incredibly powerful for breaking up and clearing energy. If you have a singing bowl, a bell, or even just some chimes, you can place the jar near the source of the sound and let the vibrations wash over it. I love the feeling of the sound waves literally shaking off the old vibes. Salt Cleansing: Salt is a fantastic absorber of negative energy. You can fill the jar with sea salt or Himalayan pink salt and let it sit for a few hours, or even overnight. Alternatively, you can bury the jar in a bowl of salt. Just remember to discard the salt afterward, as it will have absorbed those energies. Sometimes, I'll even just rub a little salt on the outside and inside of the jar, then rinse it thoroughly (if the spell permits it to be wet). Moonlight or Sunlight Cleansing: For a gentle yet powerful cleanse, you can place your jar out under the light of the full moon overnight. The moon's energy is amazing for purification and charging. Similarly, a few hours in direct sunlight can also work wonders, especially if you're working with more active, energizing spells. I often leave my jars on my windowsill to soak up these natural energies. Intention & Visualization: Never underestimate the power of your own mind! You can simply hold the jar in your hands, close your eyes, and visualize white or golden light flowing into and through the jar, washing away all impurities. Affirm loudly that the jar is now clean, clear, and ready for your sacred work. This method is always a part of whatever physical cleansing I do. Remember, the goal is to make that jar a pristine container for your magic. By taking a few moments to cleanse it properly, you're not just performing a ritual; you're setting the stage for a more effective, potent, and successful spell. Trust your intuition, choose the method that resonates most with you, and get ready to create some incredible magic!
