「仏の子」って、検索すると色んな場面で見かけますよね。私も最初は「仏教の専門用語?」「お寺の子ども?」と思って気になって調べました。結論から言うと、日常会話やSNSでの「仏の子」は“仏様みたいにやさしい人”“怒らない・穏やかで思いやりがある人”をほめるニュアンスで使われることが多い印象です。たとえば「こんな状況で怒らないの仏の子すぎる」「気遣いが神…いや仏の子」みたいな感じ。厳密な宗教用語というより、キャラや性格をたとえるライトな表現として広まっているのかなと思いました。 ただ、言葉が強いぶん、受け取り方は人それぞれです。「宗教っぽい」と感じる人もいるので、リアルの場では相手との距離感を見て使うのが安心です。私は“その人のやさしさをちゃんと見てるよ”って伝えたいときに、冗談っぽく使うくらいがちょうどいいなと感じています。 ここからは、「仏の子」っぽい心の状態に近づくために、私が実際に役立った“心の整え方”を、この記事の7つのフレーズに寄せて補足します。 まず好きなのが「苦しみは、永遠に続かない」。つらい時ほど視野が狭くなって“ずっとこのまま”と思いがちなんですが、私は紙に「これは一時的」って書いて目につく所に置くだけでも落ち着きました。 次に「心の乱れは、自分の内側にある」。誰かや出来事のせいにしたくなる時ほど、身体の疲れ(睡眠不足・空腹)や、期待のしすぎが原因だったりします。私は“いまの自分は何に反応してる?”と一回だけ自問すると、怒りが少し弱まります。 「思いやりは、苦しみを静める」も体感があります。相手に優しくするというより、まず自分に対して“今日はよくやってる”と声をかけると、不思議と人にも柔らかくなれるんですよね。 そして最後に刺さったのが「幸せは、内から湧くもの」。大きな成功より、温かい飲み物をゆっくり飲めたとか、1分だけ深呼吸できたとか、小さな幸せを回収するほど心が整っていきました。 もし最近「仏の子みたいに穏やかでいたいのに無理…」と思っているなら、まずは“穏やかでいようとしてる時点で十分えらい”と、自分に言ってあげてください。そこから少しずつ整えていけば大丈夫です。
