... Read moreSmashed potatoes are one of my favorite side dishes because they combine the creamy inside of a boiled potato with a crispy, golden crust that’s absolutely irresistible. To get that perfect texture, I usually start by boiling small potatoes until tender but not falling apart. Then, I gently smash them using the bottom of a cup or a potato masher, making sure the skins stay intact for that lovely crunch. Next, I drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle them with sea salt, cracked black pepper, and sometimes garlic powder or rosemary before roasting them in a hot oven around 425°F (220°C) for about 20-30 minutes. The high heat helps create a crisp exterior while keeping the inside soft and fluffy. Occasionally, I add a bit of grated Parmesan cheese on top towards the end for an extra layer of flavor. This recipe is incredibly versatile—feel free to experiment by adding toppings like sour cream, chives, or crispy bacon bits. Smashed potatoes also pair wonderfully with a wide variety of main dishes such as grilled chicken, steak, or even vegetarian options. They’re easy enough to prepare on a busy weeknight but impressive enough to serve for guests. Overall, smashed potatoes are an easy, comforting, and delightful dish that has become a staple in my dinner rotation.
