Sometimes behavioral issues is a cry for help

Definitely their loss, she is the sweetest cat ever 🥲 she’s literally more behaved than our others which we thought was so funny because we were fully prepared to have to do intensive training to help her “behavioral problems”. They were going to list her on Facebook marketplace, and there was no way we were going to let that happen. #catadoption #cat #cats #creatorsearchinsights #catsoftiktok

... Read moreCats that exhibit challenging behaviors often do so because of underlying issues that need our attention and care. Many behavioral problems in cats are not rooted in malice or stubbornness but rather in discomfort, illness, fear, or lack of proper socialization. For example, untreated feline herpes virus and upper respiratory infections can significantly affect a cat’s mood and interactions, leading to defensive or aggressive behavior. Such health problems might cause symptoms like a dull coat, lethargy, or irritability. Addressing these medical concerns through timely veterinary visits and treatments can help alleviate many behavioral symptoms. Additionally, environmental enrichment plays a vital role in a cat’s behavior. Many cats coming from neglectful or abusive backgrounds have never had toys, cat trees, or safe spaces to express natural behaviors. Slowly introducing interactive toys and creating stimulating environments can encourage play and reduce stress-related behaviors like scratching or biting. Handling cats gently and avoiding punishment-based methods, such as spraying with water, is crucial since those can increase fear and aggression. Adoption stories where cats transform from 'terror' to affectionate companions highlight the importance of patience, understanding, and proper care. Grooming neglected cats regularly improves their coat condition and comfort, making them more sociable. Vaccination, spaying or neutering, and parasite control ensure their health and help them establish trust with their new owners. By recognizing that behavioral issues are often a cry for help rather than just bad behavior, owners can build stronger bonds with their cats, ensuring a happier and healthier life for their furry friends. If you’re considering adopting a cat with a troubled past, remember that with love, medical care, and the right environment, these cats can thrive and become cherished members of your family.

I'm so glad you gave her a good home! What so many people don't realize is that when a cat is misbehaving it's because they're trying to get your attention! They know they're sick and they want to feel better, that's why they're acting that way. Thank you for listening to this sweet baby, she seems so much happier than she did in those before pictures.

Hi! So my boyfriend and I recently rescued a cat, hes a little less than a year old we think. He is the absolute sweetest and is so well behaved. We have an appointment to get him neutered soon but in the meantime he hasn’t stopped peeing all over our house but in the strangest places. He goes number two in his litter box and he has two litter boxes that are cleaned obsessively. This is our first cat and I feel like we have tried everything, do you have any advice?
