Mental Health Awareness!

6/6 Edited to

... Read moreIn my journey towards better mental health, I found that decluttering my living space played a surprisingly significant role. Mental health awareness is not just about mindfulness or therapy; the environment around us deeply influences our well-being. One effective method I've tried is the "10 / 10 Challenge," which involves picking a room, setting a 10-minute timer, and removing 10 unnecessary items. This quick burst of focused decluttering helps prevent feeling overwhelmed while making noticeable progress. Combining it with the "One-In, Two-Out" rule, where for every new item brought in two items must be removed the same day, keeps possessions under control and prevents future clutter. Another technique, the "Reverse Hanger Trick," particularly resonated with me. By hanging all clothes backward and turning them forward only after wearing, it becomes clear which items are truly needed. After some time, donating the untouched items frees up mental and physical space, boosting clarity and reducing decision fatigue. The "Kon Mari Method" is also powerful. It encourages keeping only things that "spark joy." Although this sounds emotional, it actually helps create a genuinely positive and supportive environment at home. Peter Walsh's "3 Box Method"—sorting items into keep, donate/sell, and trash—gives a structured approach that makes decluttering manageable even for larger spaces. I also adopted a "20-Minute Daily Declutter" rule where dedicating just 20 minutes daily to tidy one area steadily transforms the entire home without stress. These gradual growth techniques not only organize a space but contribute to mental health by reducing anxiety, promoting mindfulness, and fostering a sense of control. I recommend anyone looking to support their mental well-being to give these practical methods a try. They’re simple, achievable, and have long-lasting positive effects.

Let’s talk about rapid cycling with bipolar disorder. Some of us shift moods in hours, others in days—and it can feel impossible to keep up with ourselves. If you’ve figured out your triggers, you’re already doing deep work. If you haven’t yet, you’re still doing great. This space is for honesty
