100 words a day? Here's how I make it stick.

1. Split it up or burn out 🔥

100 words sounds wild—until you split it. I did 25 in the morning, midday, evening, and before bed. Each round takes 30–40 minutes. I used Anki, flashcards, and quizzes so it never felt too heavy.

2. Learn smarter, not harder 🧠

For each word, I:

👂 Listen to pronunciation (tones matter!)

✍️ Write it once—recognition over perfection

🧠 Link it to a silly story or phrase

💬 Say it in a sentence—basic is fine

It’s quick and sticks surprisingly well.

3. Spaced Repetition is my bestie ⏳

I used to forget everything fast. Now I add each word into a flashcard app with audio + example. Then I review 3 times:

• right after learning

• again 4–6 hours later

• once more the next day before moving on

That’s when it really locks in.

4. Balance new + old 📚

Each day starts with a review of the previous 100. Then I learn the new ones. By Day 5, I slow down: 50 new + 50 review. It’s flexible and keeps me sane.

5. I track every word like a game 🎯

I made a simple Notion tracker to log progress. Every word gets a color:

🟢 mastered

🟡 okay

🔴 needs review

It’s super satisfying to see the green grow. And it gives me a tiny dopamine hit every time I sit down to study.

... Read moreEffective language learning hinges on mastering techniques that enhance retention and make the process enjoyable. To tackle 100 new words daily, consider splitting the learning sessions into smaller, more manageable segments throughout your day. For instance, studying 25 words in the morning, midday, evening, and before bed can prevent burnout and promote better recall. Utilizing tools like Anki and other flashcard apps aids in retention by incorporating spaced repetition. This method ensures you review each word multiple times over extended intervals, significantly increasing your chances of keeping the vocabulary fresh in your mind. Listening to pronunciations, writing the words down, creating associations, and using them in context can substantially help with recognition and recall. Maintaining a balance between new and previously learned words is essential. Starting each day with a review of the prior day's vocabulary strengthens long-term retention. Tracking your progress is not just productive but also motivating; color-coding your progress in a simple tracker can provide instant gratification and encouragement. Language learning need not be a dull task—embrace these innovative study techniques to make it both pleasurable and effective.
