Side Projects to Replace Mindless Scrolling

🌱 Low Effort / Low Resource Projects

This is my "I'm too tired to think, but too bored to do nothing" list. The goal is to replace passive scrolling with a slightly more active habit, with zero pressure. My go-to's are things like curating a very specific Spotify playlist, starting a Duolingo streak to keep it alive, or finally learning how to solve a Rubik's Cube from a quick tutorial. If I want something even more chill, I'll organize my Pinterest boards or watch a Crash course video to learn something new without much effort.

⚡️ Medium Effort / Some Resource Projects

This is for when I have a bit of creative energy but don't want to commit to a massive undertaking. These projects are fun and can actually build a small skill. This is when I’ll work on my own Lemon8 page about my favorite books, learn some new photo editing tricks on Canva for better social media posts, or find a simple recipe on YouTube and try to cook a new dish.

🚀 High Effort / High Resource Projects

This is my "I'm feeling ambitious and want to build my CV" list. These projects require more sustained focus but have a huge payoff in the long run. My current high-effort projects are learning video editing basics on CapCut to make my class presentations stand out, building a simple one-page portfolio website on Carrd, and slowly working my way through a free Google Analytics course on Coursera.

Choosing a small project, no matter how simple, makes my free time feel intentional and leaves me feeling way better than after an hour of scrolling. 💖
