The Ugly Side of Working as a CNA🩺✨
Hey Girlies🫶🏻
By no means working in the healthcare field is easy at all, I want share with you a few of the many occasions I’ve wanted to give up and quit my job!
If you’re in the same situation, just know that you’re not alone and that you do not need to stay🩷
1. I got spit on by one of my residents.
2. I got called all types of names by an oriented resident while giving her Peri care.
3. The facility made me and one other CNA care for 64 patients during a snowstorm when many staff called out.
4. I have to deal with rude coworkers.
5. I was physically hurt by one resident.
While these experiences have pushed me to my limits, I’ve learned the importance of setting boundaries in my work as a CNA. It’s crucial to protect my own well-being while caring for others. However, I also remind myself that many of these residents are confused, and their actions aren’t intentional or meant to cause harm. Understanding their condition helps me approach these situations with more patience, but it doesn’t mean I should tolerate abuse. Boundaries are key to staying resilient in this demanding field.
