i’ve been drinking this green smoothie recipe for YEARS and it’s always just as delicious as it was the first time.

simple. easy. delicious. and HEALTHY!!!

if you leave out the optional yogurt, it only changes the texture slightly. leaving out the yogurt makes the smoothie vegan too!🫶🏼🥝🍌🥦🥬🥭🥑

It’s truly a stealthy way to pack in a ton of iron and vital nutrients without the grassy flavor often associated with other greens. I often buy a large bag of fresh spinach and store it in the crisper, ready to grab. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can swap it out for kale, but start with spinach for that almost undetectable nutrient boost. Next, the star of the show for sweetness and that amazing vibrant color: frozen mango chunks. This is where the magic happens for both flavor and texture. Frozen mango not only adds a lovely sweetness, thanks to its natural sugars, but it also contributes to that thick, creamy consistency I adore in a smoothie, eliminating the need for ice that can water down the flavor. I always keep a bag of frozen mango in my freezer – you can find great quality frozen mango at most grocery stores, often in value packs. These frozen chunks are packed with vitamin C, vitamin B6, and magnesium, giving you an extra immunity and energy boost. The convenience of pre-cut, frozen fruit is a game-changer for quick mornings! For the liquid base, I swear by coconut water. It’s not just a trendy drink; it's fantastic for smoothies because it’s naturally hydrating and full of electrolytes. It’s also naturally vegan, which keeps the smoothie plant-based if you omit the yogurt. It adds a subtle, refreshing taste that complements the fruit beautifully. If you don't have coconut water, plain water works too, but you might miss that extra electrolyte kick. Finally, frozen banana. This is another unsung hero for texture. Just like the mango, a frozen banana makes your smoothie incredibly creamy and cold without needing additional ice. It also adds a touch more natural sweetness. I always have a stash of peeled, sliced bananas in a freezer bag. Whenever bananas start to get a bit too ripe on my counter, they get a one-way ticket to the freezer for future smoothies!
