Farm Dog rings doorbell to tell owner, “My job is done.”

A farmer woke in the middle of the night to a motion alert from his front-door camera. When he opened the video, his heart sank: Ace, his livestock guardian dog, was standing on the porch covered in blood, holding one paw off the ground and wagging his tail. Fearing someone had shot him or that the flock had been slaughtered the farmer rushed outside. Ace immediately limped back toward the pasture, stopping every few steps to make sure his owner was following.

Every sheep was alive. Five coyotes lay motionless across the field, while a sixth dragged itself toward the woods with its hind legs no longer working. Ace finally collapsed beside the flock, still gently wagging his tail. The farmer then understood why Ace had gone to the door: whenever he finished a task around the farm, he always returned to his owner for approval. Even after fighting through the night and protecting every sheep, Ace only wanted to report back like he always did and hear the words he had earned: “Good boy. You did your job.”
