Sounds good. But what does the Bible say?

In my journey of studying Scripture, I often noticed how many popular phrases, although catchy and confident, don't truly represent God's nature as revealed in the Bible. The phrase "God don't play about me" is a prime example—while it sounds bold and shows confidence, it centers on personal ego rather than God's holy character. One key lesson I’ve learned is that God’s authority is constant and unchanging. He doesn’t need to assert Himself with drama or intimidation because His holiness, justice, mercy, and patience speak for themselves. Unlike humans who might use powerful language to appear strong, God’s strength is shown through His settled character and righteous judgment. Reflecting on this has changed how I pray and speak about God. Instead of using language that elevates myself or projects an image, I strive to align my words with Scripture, focusing on God’s glory, not mine. This shift also encourages humility and obedience—living under God’s authority rather than just talking about it. I also realize it’s easier to sound powerful than to live submitted, but true faith requires repentance and humility. Embracing God's biblical posture means acknowledging that He is holy and that my life belongs to Him. This brings real strength without theatrics and fosters a godly perspective in daily life. For anyone wrestling with the tension between cultural expressions of faith and biblical truth, I encourage diving deep into Scripture to rightly divide the word of God. Truth always stands over trends, and our language about God should reflect His unchanging nature rather than momentary confidence or popular sayings.
