💭This one is fantastic just like book one. This one definitely had my heart in a chokehold though, very emotional. Its also super suspenseful. I love when a books so good, and youre like its 1:30am but its a good part. I cant put it down. So, you decide okay 30 more mins. Next thing you know its 5 am, and the youre going oh no. This is what happened to me. I kept saying it will hit a spot where I can put it down. It didnt. I forced myself at 5am, after getting emotional. This book is just that good. 💭

💬This Contemporary Romance is Book 2 in the Morozov Mafia series. This book does have darker themes, please check all trigger warnings before reading. The romance in this book is a pre established relationship from the previous book with a forbidden romance, and is full of angst. The book is spicy, with descriptive spicy scenes, and spicy language. The book moves at a steady pace following Jolie, and Adrik as Jolie’s ex Vincent appears in their lives, and changes everything. With his appearance comes secrets, betrayal, and death. Jolies, and Adriks relationship, and those around them will suffer the dire consequences that come with Vincents appearance. This book is intense, emotional, and suspenseful. A great read for any dark romance mafia lover to get lost in after book 1.

... Read moreSo you're curious about M.C. Rivera's 'Embracing The Dark Side'? If you've stumbled upon this title, you're likely drawn to the world of intense, gritty romance, and let me tell you, this book delivers. As someone who absolutely devoured it, I wanted to share a bit more beyond just my initial reactions, especially if you're considering diving into the Morozov Mafia series. First off, the "dark" in 'Embracing The Dark Side' isn't just a catchy title; it's a promise. The original review mentioned checking trigger warnings, and I can't stress that enough. While the romance between Jolie and Adrik is undeniably compelling, the backdrop is truly unforgiving. We're talking about a world steeped in mafia dealings, where betrayal isn't just a possibility but a way of life, and death is a constant shadow. The kidnapping elements, for instance, aren't just plot devices; they contribute to a pervasive sense of danger and vulnerability that keeps you on edge. If you're sensitive to themes of intense conflict, violence, and morally grey characters, it's definitely wise to prepare yourself. For me, these elements actually heightened the emotional stakes, making the moments of connection between the characters even more impactful. This book is the second in the Morozov Mafia series, and from my experience, diving in after reading the first one, 'Claiming My Inevitable,' really enriches the experience. 'Embracing The Dark Side' picks up with Jolie and Adrik's pre-established, forbidden relationship, and understanding their journey from the start makes their struggles in this installment so much more resonant. Vincent's reappearance throws everything into chaos, and knowing the history makes the secrets and betrayals hit harder. It's like watching a high-stakes drama unfold with all the backstory already in your heart – you just feel it more deeply. What I personally find so captivating about M.C. Rivera's style, especially in this series, is how she weaves such steamy, descriptive spicy scenes into a genuinely suspenseful and emotional narrative. It's not just romance for romance's sake; it's a love story fighting for survival against brutal odds. The "intense/obsessive romance" isn't a hyperbolic tag; it truly describes the depth of their connection and the lengths they're willing to go for each other within this dangerous world. My own heart was in a chokehold, just like I mentioned in my review, because the stakes felt so incredibly high. Even the book's cover, with its dark aesthetic, white text, and the striking imagery of pink roses and a knife, perfectly sets the tone. That string of pearls draped over it? It subtly hints at the juxtaposition of beauty and danger, innocence and corruption that lies within the pages. It's a visual metaphor for the story itself. So, if you're ready for a book that will absolutely consume your thoughts, keeping you up until 5 AM, and craving more of that heart-stopping mafia intrigue, then 'Embracing The Dark Side' is definitely a journey worth taking – just make sure you're prepared for the ride.
