It was shocking to see how quickly their mask slipped, revealing a side that took pleasure in my suffering. Toxic friendships can be difficult to identify because they often begin with positive interactions. However, when someone repeatedly disregards your well-being or ridicules your struggles, it’s important to set boundaries or end the relationship altogether. A true friend supports you, uplifts you, and stands by your side through challenges—not prays for your downfall. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don’t hesitate to seek support from others who respect and care for you. Surround yourself with people who empower you, and remember that self-care includes protecting your mental and physical health from those who harm you.
