Why I no longer follow these pages. Read below.

I decided to unfollow accounts like The Shade Room and Spiritual Word. They often promote a lot of negativity, and I’d rather not have that energy in my space. I’m choosing to focus on content that uplifts, inspires, and supports my personal growth. I’m all about creating a more positive and mindful environment for myself. Share some pages that make you happy, smile, or feel good about yourself!

... Read moreSince sharing my decision to unfollow accounts like The Shade Room, I’ve had so many people reach out, especially younger friends, asking how I did it and if it really made a difference. And let me tell you, it absolutely has! I know for many of us, especially those growing up with social media, pages like The Shade Room can feel almost addictive. You scroll through their Instagram profile, see the latest gossip, the high follower count, and it’s hard not to get drawn in. But after a while, I noticed a real shift in my own energy. The constant stream of celebrity drama, arguments in the comments, and often disheartening news started to weigh heavily on me. It wasn't just about 'gossip' anymore; it was about the overall vibe. I'd finish scrolling feeling drained, sometimes even anxious, comparing my life or feeling frustrated by the negativity. I realized that my social media feed wasn't just entertainment; it was a significant part of my daily input, shaping my mood and even my outlook. The same went for Spiritual Word – while the intention might be to bridge culture with Christianity, sometimes the comments or interpretations felt more divisive than uplifting for me personally. It truly felt like I was internalizing the 'Why I no longer follow these pages' sentiment that I eventually put into action. So, how do you make the shift? It started with a conscious decision, much like when I decided to put that thought into action. First, I took an inventory of my feed. What accounts consistently made me feel good? What made me feel bad? Be honest with yourself. If an account, no matter how popular its follower count, leaves you feeling anything less than positive, it might be time to hit that unfollow button, or at least mute it. Next, actively seek out positive alternatives! Instead of just reacting to what pops up, I started searching for creators focused on mindfulness, healthy living, genuine motivation, and even just simple, joyful content. Think about what truly inspires you – is it art, nature, personal development tips, or maybe even just funny, lighthearted animal videos? There are so many amazing accounts out there dedicated to spreading good vibes. I found that replacing negative content with positive content made the transition much smoother. I also realized the power of setting boundaries. It’s not just about who you follow, but how you engage. Maybe it's limiting scroll time, turning off notifications, or even doing a full digital detox once a week. It's about taking control back from the algorithms and making social media work for your well-being, not against it. My goal was to create a peaceful mindset, and that meant being intentional about what I allowed into my digital space. It’s a journey, not a one-time fix, but the peace and positivity I’ve gained are absolutely worth it.

We all know Ollies is a great place to find affordable books but let's be honest...sometimes the price reflects in the selection. It can be overwhelming trying to find something you would enjoy reading in a sea of cookbooks, religious material, and just novels you aren't all that interested
