Here’s my step-by-step acne routine, and trust me, it works wonders!👇

🔸 Step 1: Saline Compress

Soak a cotton pad in saline solution and gently press it on your skin for about 2 minutes. It cleanses and soothes your skin, helping your skincare products absorb better afterward.

🔸 Step 2: Calamine Compress

Soak cotton pads in calamine lotion and apply it to your forehead or areas with severe acne. Leave it on for about 5 minutes, then wash it off with warm water or wipe it away with a wet tissue. This step helps with inflammation and redness—it's super effective!

🔸 Step 3: Acne Ointment Thick Layer Method

Apply a thin layer of acne ointment to your pimples, but for larger breakouts, apply a thicker layer for better results. Wait for 15 minutes, then gently massage it in for absorption before proceeding with your regular moisturizing steps. 💆‍♀️

This method works like magic! Acne fades quickly, and the best part? It even helps lighten acne scars! ✨

While my 3-step compress and ointment method was a game-changer for active breakouts, I’ve found that incorporating a few other key elements has helped maintain my clear skin and even tackle those super stubborn spots and marks. Beyond the Basics: Enhancing Your Night Routine for Stubborn Acne My core routine definitely focused on calming inflammation and treating existing pimples, but a truly effective daily regimen, especially at night, needs a good foundation. Deep Cleansing is Non-Negotiable: Before any treatment, a thorough cleanse is essential. I always start with a gentle, yet effective, cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and excess oil. Look for ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide if your skin can tolerate them, or a simple hydrating cleanser if you’re sensitive. This deep cleansing step ensures your treatments can penetrate properly. For stubborn body acne, like those pesky blackheads on the butt or back, some people find success with antibacterial washes like Hibiclens, but always patch test first and consult a dermatologist. Introducing an Acne Treatment Serum: This was a major addition for me, especially for targeting persistent breakouts and preventing new ones. After cleansing and before my compress steps (or sometimes in place of the ointment if I needed a lighter treatment), I’d apply a thin layer of an acne treatment serum. Serums often contain potent active ingredients like retinoids (e.g., retinol, adapalene), niacinamide, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that work to exfoliate, reduce inflammation, and regulate oil production. I found that a good night skincare routine with a serum significantly sped up the healing of my stubborn acne marks and prevented future flare-ups. Look for one designed for night use, as some ingredients can increase sun sensitivity. The Power of Pimple Patches for Stubborn Spots: For those really stubborn, isolated pimples or whiteheads that just won't budge, pimple patches became my secret weapon. There are two main types: hydrocolloid patches, which absorb fluid and create a moist healing environment, and medicated patches (often with salicylic acid or tea tree oil) that deliver active ingredients directly to the spot. I'd apply a hydrocolloid patch to a fresh zit overnight, and it would dramatically reduce its size and redness by morning. For cystic or deeper spots, consistency with my serum and ointment method was key, but patches helped with the surface ones. They also prevent you from picking, which is crucial for preventing stubborn acne marks! Don't Skip Your Oil-Control Moisturizer: Many people with acne-prone skin are afraid of moisturizer, but it’s vital! Dehydrated skin can actually produce more oil, leading to more breakouts. I opted for a lightweight, non-comedogenic oil-control moisturizer. It keeps your skin barrier healthy, which is essential for healing and reducing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (those stubborn dark spots). Applying it after your treatments helps lock everything in and prevents excessive dryness. Lifestyle Matters: Beyond the Products The original article touched on this, but it’s worth reiterating. Getting rid of stubborn acne isn't just about what you put on your face. Diet: Sticking to a light diet, reducing sugary foods and excessive dairy, truly helped calm my skin from the inside out. Sleep: Avoiding staying up late is crucial. Your skin regenerates overnight, and lack of sleep can increase stress hormones, leading to breakouts. Stress Management: This is a big one. Stress can wreak havoc on your hormones. Incorporating meditation, light exercise, or simply taking time for yourself can make a noticeable difference. By combining my original 3-step method with these additional strategies and maintaining good habits, I finally achieved the clear, healthy skin I always dreamed of. It takes patience and consistency, but the results are so worth it!
