Should I cut my hair like this again?

2024/10/24 Edited to

... Read moreDeciding on a new haircut is always a big deal, right? Especially when you're contemplating a major change from long locks to something completely different. As you know from my title, I'm seriously weighing my options between two fantastic styles: the trendy shag and the ever-chic long pixie. Currently, I'm rocking my long dark hair with those reddish highlights you might have seen, and while I love the length, I'm craving a fresh, edgier look. Let's dive into why these two cuts are on my mind and what makes them such popular choices for women looking for a change! First up, the Shag Hairstyle for Women. This isn't your grandma's shag; it's a modern, layered masterpiece that screams effortless cool. Think lots of choppy layers around the crown, sides, and back, often paired with bangs or face-framing pieces. What I love about the shag is its incredible texture and volume. It's fantastic for adding movement to hair that might otherwise fall flat. For someone like me with long dark hair, a shag would introduce so much dimension, and those reddish highlights I have would really pop with all the different lengths. It gives off a very rock-and-roll, undone vibe that I find super appealing. The pros? It can be relatively low-maintenance if you embrace its natural, tousled look. It's also incredibly versatile, working well with various hair types and lengths, from medium to long. The cons? It does require some styling to get that iconic texture, usually involving texturizing sprays or mousses. Plus, if you don't find a stylist who truly understands the modern shag, you might end up with something a bit dated. Then, there's the Long Pixie Cut for Women. This isn't the super-short, boyish pixie; it's a softer, more grown-out version that still retains the short hair charm. It typically features longer layers on top, allowing for more styling versatility – you can sweep it to the side, create some volume, or even pull back some pieces. It’s a bold choice but still feels incredibly feminine and sophisticated. For my long dark hair, transitioning to a long pixie would be a dramatic change, but I can imagine how those reddish highlights would add incredible depth and interest to the shorter strands. It’s a fantastic option if you want to highlight your facial features and really make a statement. The benefits? It’s often incredibly easy to wash and dry, saving a lot of time. It also feels liberating and can make you feel incredibly confident. The challenges? Growing it out can be a bit awkward, and it requires regular trims to maintain its shape. You also need to be prepared for fewer styling options compared to long hair, though a skilled stylist can show you some tricks. Choosing between these two means considering my lifestyle. Do I want something that requires a bit more styling but gives amazing volume (shag), or something super chic and easy to manage daily (long pixie)? Both would definitely make those reddish highlights stand out in different ways. I also think about my glasses and nose ring – how would these styles frame my face? The shag's layers or the pixie's soft fringe could really complement them. It's a big decision, and I'd love to hear your thoughts! Have you tried a shag or a long pixie? What was your experience like? Your advice would be so helpful as I ponder this hair transformation!

Hairstylists - where should I trim my hair?
I want to keep my ‘U’ shape if possible because aesthetically I think it looks more natural than a blunt edge but if I have to cut it straight across I will. Also, I didn’t comb my hair in the back so there is a gap in the middle, but there’s hair there. #trim #splitends #healthyhairgrowth
