3 Things that happened when I trimmed my hair 🫶

😆 3rd one is unavoidable 😬 but it’s also my least favorite

We do want to see growth but what’s growth when it becomes unhealthy looking?

Number 3 is that you realize that it is necessary so you have to do it soon again

I don’t like to trim my hair but I feel like it’s necessarily because wether we like it or not, trimming our hair is the only solution to damaged hair. Don’t let nobody tell you that you can fix what is not fixable 😆

Granted, it can improved the look of your hair but ultimately you’ll have to just cut it off.

Here are some reasons why you should consider trimming your hair:

- Damaged hair

- Split ends

- Uneven looking hair shape

- Or just for style

Although hair breakage is the most common reason, there are many reasons you could decide to cut it. And as long as you’re happy with it that’s all that matters.

How many knows what im talking about? Do you like trimming your hair for its benefits or because you have to? Or do you just avoid it 😆

Save this on your next trim day and share this with a friend

... Read moreOkay, let's get real about hair trims. For the longest time, I avoided them like the plague! I mean, who wants to cut off precious length when you're trying to grow your hair, right? But after years on my natural hair journey, I learned some truly surprising things about trimming that totally changed my perspective. It's not just about getting rid of those annoying split ends; it's about setting your hair up for actual, healthy growth. One of the biggest 'aha!' moments for me was realizing that trimming isn't about losing length, but about gaining quality. When you have split ends, they don't just stay put. They travel up the hair shaft, causing more damage and breakage. I used to wonder why my hair felt stringy at the ends even after deep conditioning. Turns out, it was those unaddressed split ends making my hair look thin and unhealthy. Cutting them off instantly made my hair feel thicker and look more uniform. It's like pruning a plant – you remove the dead bits so the healthy parts can flourish! Another crucial benefit I discovered is how trimming can actually make your hair appear to grow faster and fuller. This might sound counterintuitive, but think about it: if your ends are constantly breaking off due to damage, you're not retaining length. By removing those weak points, you allow your hair to grow without constant setbacks. My natural hair journey really took off once I committed to regular trims. I noticed less breakage overall, and my wash-and-go styles looked so much bouncier and defined because the ends weren't ragged. And let's not forget about shape! Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like your hair just wasn't sitting right, or one side was longer than the other? Trimming isn't just for damage; it’s also fantastic for maintaining your desired shape and style. Whether you're rocking a defined curl, a bob, or just want an even length, a good trim can clean up your silhouette. For me, it helped to get rid of that 'triangle' shape that can sometimes happen with natural hair, making my curls fall beautifully. So, how do you know when it's time for a trim? I usually look for a few tell-tale signs. Frizzy ends that don't respond to moisture, single strand knots, split ends (obviously!), and hair that just feels rough or difficult to detangle at the tips are all red flags. Don't wait until your hair is screaming for help! Listen to your hair; it'll tell you when it needs a little snip. For many, a trim every 3-4 months is a good baseline, but it really depends on your hair's health and how you style it. If you use a lot of heat or color-treat, you might need more frequent trims. Honestly, embracing trims transformed my natural hair. It went from looking dull and perpetually 'stuck' at a certain length to being vibrant, strong, and visibly growing. If you're on the fence, I encourage you to read the full story and give it a try. You might be surprised by the healthy hair transformation waiting for you!
