#1 thing I did to prepare for baby #3

Preparing for this baby looked a lot more like letting go than adding more. And honestly it changed everything about how this season feels.

If you're getting ready for a baby, I would gently encourage you to shift your focus. It's not just about what you need to buy it's about what you can take off your plate ahead of time.

Because when your home feels lighter, you get to be more present for what actually matters!

Grab my Simple Home Workbook if you need help getting started.

4/28 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I prepared for my third baby, I realized that traditional preparation methods—buying more gear, creating new systems—felt overwhelming rather than helpful. Instead, I chose to focus on simplifying my environment. I began by thoughtfully clearing counters and removing items that no longer served our family. This practice of 'letting go' helped me reduce mental clutter and physical tasks during those busy early days. From my experience, creating more empty spaces in your home reduces the amount you have to clean and maintain, which can be a huge relief postpartum. Less mess also encourages a calmer mind, allowing you to be more present with your new baby and other children. Rather than focusing on acquiring baby products, ask yourself what can be cleared or donated to lighten your daily load. Another benefit I noticed was how this simplification freed me from feeling tethered to things and routines. It gave me permission to slow down and embrace the changes naturally. If you’re expecting, try walking through each room and question whether each item is truly necessary right now. This isn't about deprivation but about creating space for what matters most—your family’s comfort and connection. In addition, having fewer distractions allowed me to prioritize self-care and rest, essential for recovery and bonding. Simplifying early gave me a sense of readiness and peace, which I believe made the transition easier for everyone involved. If you want to start but feel overwhelmed, resources like a Simple Home Workbook are great guides to help break down the process. Overall, preparing for baby #3 by doing less and removing excess was a game-changer, fostering a lighter, more joyful postpartum experience.

No one really talks about how school prepares you for exams, grades, and deadlines… but not for actual life. You graduate knowing how to memorize facts, yet no one teaches you how to manage money, build credit, set boundaries, handle conflict, or even advocate for yourself without feeling guilty.
