how I deal with heartbreak as a breakup coach
i've recently experienced some heartbreak of my own, and what was there for me right away was, "i must be a terrible coach if i'm not immune to heartbreak." i seemed to momentarily forget that while i do know all the ins and outs of healing, i'm still a human being, and human beings have emotional reactions. so, this is how i've been navigating my heartbreak so that i can continue to authentically show up for my clients.

As a breakup coach, navigating your own heartbreak can feel paradoxical, but it is essential to remember that experiencing emotions is part of being human. Here are some ways that can help ease the emotional burden while maintaining your role as a supportive guide for others. **Exercise**: Physical activity boosts serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain, helping alleviate feelings of sadness. It can be tempting to want to curl up and stay in bed, but pushing yourself to go to the gym can drastically improve your mood and outlook on life. Regular exercise not only improves mental health but can also strengthen your resolve in tough emotional periods. **Commit to Your Responsibilities**: Maintaining a routine can provide a sense of normalcy amid emotional turmoil. While feelings of heartbreak can be overwhelming, staying committed to daily responsibilities can be grounding. Engaging in activities and fulfilling your commitments helps to distract you from the pain and keeps life moving forward. **Reach Out to Friends**: Isolation can seem like a comforting option when experiencing heartbreak, but connecting with friends is often highly beneficial. Even if it's just for casual conversation and not explicitly about the breakup, talking to friends can help reconnect you with the present moment and bring a sense of support and community during challenging times. Implementing these strategies can foster resilience and authenticity as you work through your heartbreak while continuing to serve your clients effectively.
