Day trip from Fukuoka Japan 🇯🇵

We embarked on a day trip to Dazaifu; from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Nishitetsu-Futsukaichi Station via Nishitetsu-Tenjin-Omuta Line, followed by Nishitetsu-Dazaifu Line Local Train to Dazaifu station. The total journey took around 30 minutes.

After walking past Tenmangu and walking further inwards, we chanced upon O-Ishi Chaya. It was nested at the foot of the Tenkai Inari shrine. This store provides both noodle and rice options.

... Read moreIf you’re curious about the travel time from Fukuoka to Dazaifu, I can tell you it’s surprisingly convenient. I traveled from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station to Nishitetsu-Futsukaichi Station, then switched to the Nishitetsu-Dazaifu Line to reach Dazaifu Station. The total trip took roughly 30 minutes by local trains, which is perfect for a relaxed day trip. Dazaifu is well-known for its cultural highlights, especially the Tenmangu Shrine, which you won't want to miss. After visiting the shrine, I discovered O-Ishi Chaya — a charming spot nestled at the foot of Tenkai Inari Shrine. It offers both noodle and rice dishes, great for recharging after a day of sightseeing. For those considering driving, be aware that parking in Dazaifu can be limited, and the train ride is often more straightforward. Plus, you get to enjoy picturesque views along the way. Keep an eye out for local specialties, tea shops, and seasonal events during your visit. Whether it's your first time or a repeat trip, Dazaifu has a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly complements the short trip from bustling Fukuoka. Pro tip: Try to catch the 'Tabito' sightseeing train on the Nishitetsu line for a unique experience, as it’s designed to celebrate good fortune and offers a stylish, themed ride. This adds an extra layer of charm to your journey to Dazaifu.
