Quiet, slow mornings on the mountain are my favorite way to spend my 5-9am before my 9-5.
📍 Alta, Utah >> I did the lower Albion Basin to Snake Pit to Upper Albion Basin. Almost 3 miles, 80 minutes and I took my TIMEEEEE.
Parked for free at Wildcat. No dogs, don’t get in the water. Bring a sweater, it was 59 when I started!
Waking up early to experience the serene beauty of the Utah mountains can completely transform your day. Starting your hike around 5 am not only gives you cooler temperatures but also lets you enjoy the tranquility of nature before the crowds arrive. During my hike in July at Alta, Utah, the morning air was crisp at 59°F, so layering with a light sweater made the journey comfortable. The Albion Basin trails offer a delightful mixture of terrain and scenery. Hiking nearly 3 miles from Lower Albion Basin to Snake Pit and back through Upper Albion Basin, I took my time absorbing the stunning wildflowers along the way, which adds a burst of color to the mountainous backdrop. These trails are perfect for those who prefer a slow-paced adventure focused on mindfulness and nature appreciation. Parking at Wildcat was hassle-free and free, making early starts convenient. Remember to respect local regulations: dogs aren't allowed, and staying out of the water protects the natural habitat. Bringing essentials like water, snacks, a sweater, and a camera will help you fully enjoy the experience. This quiet mountain hike is ideal for anyone wanting a peaceful break from the daily grind, especially before a 9-5 job. The calm mornings, fresh air, and beautiful landscape provide a perfect mental reset and physical boost. If you’re planning a visit to the Utah mountains, consider this early morning Albion Basin route for a rewarding and soulful adventure.
