Emotions & the Heart 🌿

Emotions & the Heart 🌿

-

Going through this @thedailygraceco Bible study has transformed how I view my emotions—shaping a healthier perspective that is aligned with God's Word. 🍂

-

For the longest time, I struggled to see how my emotions could glorify God, especially in the harder seasons of life. But here's what I’ve learned: our emotions are a gift from God. They can either lead us toward sin or be a powerful way to bring glory to Him. 🙌🏻

-

God shows us the perfect example of how to steward our emotions for the good of His Kingdom. With His strength & wisdom, we can use our emotions in a righteous, holy, and loving way. 🤍

... Read moreIt’s amazing how much a space can impact your spiritual journey, right? When I started diving into the ‘Emotions and the Heart’ study, I realized that creating an inviting atmosphere for my Bible time made a huge difference. If you’re looking to make your study time more engaging and reflective, here are a few tips for cultivating that ‘bible open pages aesthetic’ everyone loves, and how it connects to stewarding your emotions. First, think about natural light. Positioning your open Bible and study guide where sunlight can gently fall on the pages not only looks beautiful but also creates a peaceful, calming ambiance. Add a simple, natural element like a small plant or a warm cup of tea beside your 'Emotions and the Heart' workbook. I often use a cozy blanket too! These small touches can transform your study nook into a sanctuary, helping to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. The goal is to minimize distractions and maximize focus, guiding your emotions towards peace and clarity as you reflect on passages like those in 2 Timothy, which often speak to perseverance and godly living. Beyond aesthetics, truly understanding and stewarding our emotions biblically is key. Many people search for a 'bible based emotion wheel' to help them navigate their feelings. While there isn't a literal biblical emotion wheel, we can create a similar framework based on Scripture to process what's happening in our hearts. Here’s a simple, faith-based approach I've found helpful: Acknowledge & Name: Just like an emotion wheel helps you identify a feeling (e.g., sad, angry, joyful), start by honestly acknowledging what you're feeling. Don't suppress it. The Psalms are full of raw emotions! Explore the Root: Ask yourself, 'Why do I feel this way?' Is it rooted in truth, fear, or a worldly perspective? This is where God’s Word becomes our guide, helping us discern the source of our emotions. The 'Hearts Shaped by God's Word' concept from my study reminds me to let scripture inform my understanding. Bring it to God: Take that emotion, whatever it is, directly to God in prayer. Lament, confess, give thanks – pour out your heart. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and His peace will guard our hearts. Seek God's Perspective: What does the Bible say about this emotion or the situation causing it? Meditate on scripture. For example, if I'm feeling anxious, I might turn to passages about God's provision and sovereignty. If I'm angry, I look for guidance on patience and forgiveness. The study guide's focus on 2 Timothy often brings wisdom for navigating difficult feelings with faith. Respond in Faith: Finally, choose to respond in a way that honors God. This doesn't mean pretending an emotion isn't there, but allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your actions despite how you feel. This is how we allow our 'Hearts Shaped by God's Word' to truly shine, transforming our emotions into a powerful testimony for His glory. By combining a beautiful study environment with a biblical approach to processing emotions, my time with the 'Emotions and the Heart' study has become truly transformative. It's not just about reading the Bible, but letting it deeply shape how I experience and express every feeling.
