Book Review 1 out of 8 of the Missed March Reviews

... Read moreOkay, bookworms, let's dive into my latest read that completely swept me away: "Kiss of the Selkie" by Tessonja Odette! As book 3 in her incredible Entangled with Fae series, I've been eagerly anticipating this one. And let me tell you, it delivered a truly captivating experience, earning a solid four-star rating in my book. First off, can we talk about selkies? For those unfamiliar, selkies are mythological creatures from Scottish and Irish folklore, often depicted as seals in the water but capable of shedding their skin to become human on land. Tessonja Odette weaves this fascinating mythology beautifully into her fae world. In "Kiss of the Selkie," you get to explore the unique culture and challenges faced by these beings, making the world-building feel fresh and deeply immersive. It’s not just a fae story; it's a selkie fae tale with its own distinct charm and rules, which I absolutely adored. My reading journey with this book was fantastic. I spent hours curled up with my Kindle e-reader, completely lost in the narrative. I even found myself making little notes in my journal, much like a handwritten book review, trying to capture all the feelings and plot twists. The romance in this installment is particularly compelling – full of tension, longing, and genuine connection. You really root for the main characters to overcome their obstacles and find their way to each other. The emotional depth that Odette brings to her characters is one of her greatest strengths, and it shines in "Kiss of the Selkie." What made it a four-star read for me? The world-building is intricate and imaginative, the characters are easy to connect with, and the plot keeps you turning pages. There are moments of genuine surprise, and the blend of fantasy, romance, and mythology is just perfect. If I had to nitpick, perhaps a tiny bit more tension in the middle section could have elevated it to a five, but honestly, it's a minor point in an otherwise stellar read. The themes of destiny, choice, and finding your place, even when it feels like the world is against you, resonated strongly with me. For anyone searching for a new fae romance, especially one with a unique mythological twist, you absolutely have to pick up "Kiss of the Selkie." Whether you're already entangled with Tessonja Odette's series or looking for a great starting point (though I'd recommend starting from book one for the full experience!), this book is pure magic. It’s definitely a must-read for fans of fantastical love stories and rich, enchanting worlds. What are your thoughts on selkie stories or the Entangled with Fae series? I'd love to hear!
