le tronc et les branches
La culture québécoise sur les médias sociaux est en plein essor de branches et c’est magique. C’est la responsabilité des médias institutionnels d’en faire le pont avec un tronc commun.

Reflecting on the evolution of Quebec culture, I find it fascinating how social media platforms have opened the door for a multitude of cultural expressions, or 'branches,' that allow individuals to explore and celebrate their own unique identities. However, from my experience, this diversity also presents the challenge of preserving a common cultural thread, or 'trunk,' that unites our community. I've noticed that while younger generations thrive in these varied online spaces, older cultural references and shared stories—like childhood films or traditional sayings—risk slipping away from mainstream awareness. This gap often leads to a disconnect, where we each engage deeply with our individual cultural niches but miss out on collective experiences that once shaped our common identity. It's crucial to have traditional media act as a bridge, highlighting core cultural elements alongside the new digital branches. This helps maintain a cohesive Quebecois identity while embracing the richness of contemporary expressions. In this way, we honor our shared heritage and promote inclusivity, ensuring that all Quebecers, regardless of age or preferred media, can find something familiar and meaningful to connect with. Navigating this balance is not without challenges, especially given algorithms that tend to personalize content and limit exposure to diverse cultural elements. Engaging with content creators across both traditional and new media, and fostering dialogues about common cultural symbols, can be powerful steps toward reinforcing our cultural trunk amidst vibrant branches.
