This year we are saving and managing money better💵

We all have those friends that only want to hang out doing something cool. Maybe going to a potty class, expensive restaurant, shows in the city, and ect. They never want to just chill at each other houses.

Since becoming parents, my husband is a full time parent at home. We do not have the extra money to be going out with friends. We have trying to ask our friends if we can just go to the parks or hang out at home. It wouls turn into a big fight. Its not worth it anymore.

... Read moreNavigating friendships when trying to save money can be challenging, especially when your social circle prefers more expensive outings. From personal experience, I've found that setting clear boundaries and communicating openly about financial priorities helps maintain friendships without strain. One useful approach is suggesting low-cost or free activities like visiting local parks, organizing potlucks, or having game nights at home. These options often provide just as much fun and social connection without the added expense. It’s important to recognize that true friends will understand and respect your financial boundaries rather than turning outings into conflicts. Also, reassessing your social commitments regularly ensures you align your time and money with your values and goals. For example, leaving behind friendships that drain your resources and energy, as I’m planning to do in 2025, can be a healthy step toward better money management and overall well-being. Lastly, adopting money habits such as budgeting for social expenses, prioritizing savings, and involving your friends in money-saving challenges can create a supportive environment. This approach not only strengthens your financial situation but often deepens friendships through shared goals and understanding.

You’re just entering a normal point in life where your priorities are shifting rather than having “expensive friends”. 😊 I never had kids, but definitely remember when some of my friends did and could no longer afford to do certain things. It never bothered me. I gravitated towards friends who could still afford to do the things I enjoy and they gravitated towards other friends who also had kids and could do kid-related things. It’s perfectly normal. 😊
