I am not a doctor , this information is for educational purposes only .Fo your own Research. Some of this information is not in order but it helps, while researching this My mind wondered and this is the weekend my Grannnnnnd babies are over so it took me 3 days to gather, decipher the information given to me, some of it was not true and coincides with each other but I figured it out, like the foods for vitamin intake, Calcium rich foods hinders the absorption of Iron and some food list added them. SMH! I have Anemia, I have had it since I was 14 years old. When you know better you do better Not one Doctor helped but to give me Iron pills that the body did not recognize, the little green ones that were really real metal iron. Gave me bad Constipation. Now there are some liquidi iron vitamins but the best iron vitamins is the one you get through REAL FOOD. You Definitely need Vitamin C foods to help the absorption of Iron to get through the organs of the body. #anemia #vitamins #vitamenc #ironsupplement

... Read moreAnemia is a condition characterized by a deficiency in the number or quality of red blood cells, often caused by insufficient iron levels. While iron supplements are commonly prescribed, they can cause side effects such as constipation and may not always be well absorbed by the body. Therefore, focusing on nutrition and lifestyle changes is essential for effective anemia management. Iron exists in two forms: ferric and ferrous. Ferrous iron is better absorbed in the digestive tract. To maximize iron absorption, it is crucial to consume iron-rich foods alongside vitamin C-rich foods, which convert iron into a more bioavailable form. For example, pairing foods like spinach or red meat with fruits such as oranges or strawberries can enhance absorption. Certain foods contain compounds that impede iron absorption. Polyphenols, found in coffee, cocoa, spices, apples, and walnuts, and phytates in whole grains, brown rice, legumes, and nuts, bind to iron and reduce its uptake. Those managing anemia should limit intake of these foods during iron-rich meals. Incorporating a variety of iron-rich foods can support sustained iron levels. Leafy greens like broccoli and spinach, organ meats such as liver (rich in B vitamins, selenium, and copper), seafood like scallops and tuna, and dried fruits including figs, raisins, and prunes are excellent options. Nutritious snacks like pumpkin seeds and peanut butter also contribute to daily iron intake. Beyond diet, some traditional practices may support iron levels. For instance, drinking water stored in copper vessels is believed to aid iron absorption, taking advantage of copper’s role as a vital mineral in this process. Practical meal combinations to boost iron uptake include hummus with capsicum sticks, nuts paired with dried apricots, chickpea salad with mango slices, and iron-fortified cereals with blueberry smoothies. Additionally, including protein sources such as red meat and scallops can further support hemoglobin levels. By understanding these nutritional fundamentals and avoiding inhibitors of iron absorption, individuals with anemia can gradually improve their iron status through real foods and balanced diets. Consulting with healthcare professionals for personalized dosage and supplement recommendations remains important, especially in cases of severe anemia.
