Skinacare that targets different type of acne

1️⃣ La Roche-Posay – Effaclar Acne Face Wash (Salicylic Acid)

💬 Literally the ✨OG✨ for blackheads and tiny bumps. Salicylic acid clears out the gunk in your pores like a vacuum. It’s gentle but effective—your skin will feel squeaky clean without being stripped.

💥 Targets: Comedonal acne (blackheads + whiteheads)

2️⃣ Cocokind – Retinol Gel

💬 This is the ‘slow and steady wins the race’ type of product. It tackles all kinds of breakouts—from hormonal to random stress zits—but you gotta be patient. Plus, it’s plant-based retinol, so less irritation but still works!

💥 Targets: All types of acne

3️⃣ Peach Slices – Soothing Cleanser (Azelaic Acid)

💬 Lowkey underrated. This one calms down angry breakouts AND helps fade redness. Azelaic acid is that chill girl who does a little bit of everything and doesn’t cause drama.

💥 Targets: Comedonal + inflammatory acne

4️⃣ PanOxyl – Acne Foaming Wash (Benzoyl Peroxide)

💬 This one’s strong AF. If you’re dealing with painful, inflamed breakouts, this is your ride-or-die. Just make sure to moisturize because it can be drying. Bonus: it works super fast.

💥 Targets: Inflammatory acne (cystic, pustules)

... Read moreOkay, so you've seen my go-to products for tackling different types of acne, but let's dive a little deeper! It's super common to feel overwhelmed by all the options out there, especially when you're trying to figure out if you need salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or something else entirely. As someone who’s been through it, I know the struggle is real! Let’s talk about the big two: Salicylic Acid vs. Benzoyl Peroxide. My La Roche-Posay Effaclar cleanser with salicylic acid is amazing for those pesky blackheads and whiteheads – what we call *comedonal acne*. Salicylic acid is a BHA (beta-hydroxy acid) that's oil-soluble, meaning it can really get into your pores, break down that gunk, and exfoliate from the inside out. It's like a tiny, gentle vacuum for your pores, preventing new clogs. I love it for keeping my skin smooth and preventing those tiny bumps. Now, for the red, angry, painful pimples – the inflammatory acne like cystic breakouts or pustules – that's where benzoyl peroxide (BP) really shines. My PanOxyl foaming wash, for instance, uses BP to kill the acne-causing bacteria. It's a powerhouse, but it can be drying and might even bleach fabrics, so be careful with your towels! The key is to use it exactly as directed and always, always follow up with a good moisturizer. While salicylic acid focuses on unclogging, benzoyl peroxide directly attacks the bacteria causing that inflammation. So, if you're asking 'benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid?', the answer often depends on what type of breakout you're primarily dealing with! And then there are retinoids, like the plant-based retinol gel from Cocokind I mentioned. You might have heard of adapalene gel, which is a popular retinoid. Retinoids are truly multi-taskers! They work by speeding up your cell turnover, which helps prevent new clogs from forming and can even improve skin texture over time. This accelerated cell renewal also makes them fantastic for fading those annoying post-acne marks and even helping with the appearance of acne scars, which is what many of us are looking for. It takes patience, usually a few months, but the results are so worth it for clearer skin and a more even tone. Just remember to start slow to minimize irritation and always use SPF during the day! Don't forget about unsung heroes like azelaic acid, found in my Peach Slices soothing cleanser. This ingredient is fantastic for calming redness, reducing inflammation, and even helping with hyperpigmentation. It’s a great option if your skin is a bit sensitive but still needs help with breakouts and evening out your complexion. Finally, let's talk about building a routine that works without causing more issues. When you're dealing with acne, always opt for products labeled 'non-comedogenic' – this means they're less likely to clog your pores, which is crucial for any type of acne skincare. A simple routine of cleansing, treating with your chosen active, moisturizing, and daily SPF can make a huge difference. If you're finding that over-the-counter products aren't cutting it, or if you're dealing with very severe forms like acne conglobata, please don't hesitate to see a dermatologist. They can offer prescription-strength options or other treatments tailored specifically to your skin. Remember, consistency and patience are your best friends on the journey to clearer skin!
