Summer is finally here, and after a long semester, all I want to do is make the most of it with my friends! Sometimes it feels like we run out of ideas, but I've found that with a little planning, every day can be an adventure. One of my absolute favorite ways to spend a summer day is by exploring the great outdoors. Grab your athletic wear and hit a hiking trail! There’s nothing quite like reaching a rocky peak and looking out at a stunning landscape of hills and trees with your besties. We always pack snacks and water, and the conversations on the way up are the best. For something more relaxing, a trip to a river or lake is perfect. We love finding clear water spots for a swim. Last year, we found this amazing place called Prettyboy Reservoir, and it was absolutely beautiful – perfect for cooling off and just chilling by the water. And you absolutely HAVE to catch a sunset together. Find a spot with a great view over a large body of water; it’s magical watching the colors change with your friends by your side. Not every day has to be an epic outdoor trek. Sometimes, the best memories are made at home or in more relaxed settings. A home-cooked meal night is always a hit! We pick a theme, everyone brings an ingredient or a dish, and we spend the evening cooking and eating together. It’s so much more fun and usually cheaper than eating out. Another classic is a picnic. We love spreading out blankets on a grassy area, maybe overlooking a lake or a park, and just sharing food and laughs. Pack some sandwiches, fruit, and maybe a sweet treat. It's simple, but so enjoyable. If you're like me and always looking for more summer ideas, think about things that make you feel productive or explore new interests. Maybe pick up a new hobby together, like painting or learning a musical instrument. Or, if you're looking to give back, volunteering at a local charity can be incredibly rewarding and a great way to meet new people. We also love exploring local hidden gems – think farmers markets for fresh produce, free outdoor concerts, or even just exploring a new neighborhood on foot. A spontaneous road trip, even a short one to a nearby town, can feel like a huge adventure. Just pack some snacks, make a killer playlist, and hit the road! The key to a memorable college summer is to be intentional. Don't wait for things to happen; plan them! Create a shared calendar with your friends, brainstorm ideas, and try to tick off as many as you can from your summer bucket list.
