I have so many ideas of what to post on this app & absolutely love how highly edited and curated everything is, but that’s also what causes my motivation to decline. everything is so perfect & when i’m not in the mood to sit down and edit photos for 20+ minutes, i feel like im not doing enough for this app!
i love the community and content that this app brings, but it’s hard to stay motivated when you see bigger creators posting flawlessly curated content & u feel like urs isn’t enough.
what i’ve been doing is, on a day where i feel motivated to create content for this app, i create a BUNCH & save it to my drafts to post later on! but even then, i have things sitting in my drafts that still need editing & text & captions & stickers & oh my gosh, suddenly it’s all too much.
one other thing that has been keeping me going is the diary challenge. i like the diary challenge bc i know there will be a reward at the end. i want to participate in events like “buy or bye” or their gamer girl promo, but it’s impossible to win unless you have a large following already on this app! i see all these posts saying “what i’ve won so far on lemon8!” and can’t help but feel demotivated because i can’t win too.
am i the only one who feels this way? i love this app & it’s community & their preaching of effortless & not necessarily curated content, but i can’t help but feel like im not doing enough or am being judged for lack luster posts, which kills my motivation to post entirely.
do you have any strategies you use to stay motivated to post on lemon8? lmk!!
... Read moreHey Lemon8 fam! Reading the original article, I felt so seen. It's totally real – those challenges to stay motivated when posting on Lemon8 can feel overwhelming. I know you're probably nodding along, thinking 'Yup, that's me!' We all see those flawlessly curated feeds and sometimes it makes us question if our own content is 'enough.' But guess what? It absolutely is. And I've been exploring a few more ways to keep that spark alive and genuinely enjoy the process.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned about how I've been staying motivated to post on Lemon8 is redefining what "perfect" means. The original post mentioned the pressure of highly edited content taking 20+ minutes. That's a huge time commitment, and honestly, not always sustainable. What if we embraced the 'effortless' vibe Lemon8 often promotes? Sometimes, a raw, authentic share performs even better because it resonates. I challenge myself to post one unedited (or minimally edited) photo with a genuine thought once a week. It reduces the editing stress immensely!
Another game-changer for me has been getting smarter with content creation. The original post touches on batch creation, which is brilliant! To take it a step further, I try to schedule 'content days' where I plan out themes or topics. For example, one Sunday might be dedicated to fashion flat lays, another to quick recipe videos. This way, my brain is in 'fashion mode' or 'food mode,' making the creative process smoother and faster. Plus, I've started using simple editing presets or templates on mobile apps. They save so much time and keep my feed looking cohesive without hours of tweaking.
Let's talk about the comparison trap. It’s so easy to look at bigger creators and feel like you're falling short, especially when it comes to things like winning challenges. I used to feel that sting too! But I’ve shifted my mindset. Instead of focusing on what others are winning, I focus on the connections I make and the value I’m sharing. Engaging with comments, replying to DMs, and finding my tiny niche within the Lemon8 community has been incredibly rewarding. It reminds me that my audience, no matter how big or small, appreciates what *I* bring to the table. This community aspect is a huge part of how I've been staying motivated to post on Lemon8.
And finally, don't underestimate the power of a break! If you're feeling completely burnt out, it's okay to step away for a few days, or even a week. Sometimes, that mental reset is exactly what you need to come back with fresh ideas and renewed energy. I also keep a 'content inspiration' note on my phone where I jot down ideas as they come to me, so when I am motivated, I don't waste time thinking about what to post.
Remember, your Lemon8 journey is unique. It's about sharing your life, your insights, and connecting with people who appreciate *you*. Don't let the pressure of perfection or follower counts dim your light. Keep showing up, even imperfectly, and trust that your authenticity will shine through. What other tips do you have for staying motivated?
I've also seeing creating a bunch of posts that I save in my drafts. it's so helpful for me to just prep the posts and then one day to just post it without overturning
I haven’t posted anything on this app yet because the editing feels so daunting and I feel like my content will flop because I don’t have any experience with editing
