as someone who loves thick crust pizza, these Roman-style pizzas were totally up my alley 😍 they’re thick, airy, and rectangular pan-baked, made with olive oil that gives the dough its signature texture. think of it as a cross between focaccia and pizza 🍞🍕
she offers 4 flavours, and you can even get all 4 on a single pizza (best of all worlds 😆) my favourites were the truffle mushroom and margherita 😋 the truffle mushroom came topped with sautéed brown mushrooms and truffle paste, super savoury and ultra fragrant. the margherita was surprisingly unique, thanks to the addition of camembert cheese on top of the classic mozzarella and tomato sauce base 🧀🫕 it definitely amped up the cheesiness and added a lovely creamy texture.
she also makes the BEST cookies (my family and friends loved them!!!) and amazing sourdough loaves 🍞 the ones pictured are 300g loaves, about half the size of her regular ones. both were savoury flavours with cheese, garlic, and herbs, and they were insanely fragrant 🌿
overall, this is a homebaker you have to check out if you’re a fan of thick crust pizzas. they’re thick yet super light and airy, so you won’t feel overwhelmingly full, and i love how crisp the sides are too 😙
... Read moreIf you're exploring focaccia pizzas, especially the Roman-style kind, you'll appreciate how this variation balances a thick, bread-like base with an airy, light finish thanks to quality olive oil usage. I've found that the focaccia pizza is quite different from traditional Italian focaccia bread; it's pan-baked rectangular, giving it a lovely crisp edge that complements the soft, fluffy interior.
The truffle mushroom topping is a standout, with sautéed brown mushrooms and fragrant truffle paste adding earthy depth that elevates the focaccia pizza beyond your usual pie. This flavor pairs beautifully with the margherita variety, enhanced with an unexpected creamy twist of camembert cheese alongside mozzarella and tomato sauce, making for a rich yet balanced bite.
Beyond pizzas, the baker also crafts fantastic savoury sourdough loaves highlighting herbs, garlic, and cheese, bringing out aromatic notes that remind me of classic focaccia herbs but with even more complexity. Their cookies also make a delightful treat that pairs well with these hearty breads and pizzas.
For those curious about making focaccia pizza at home, the key lies in using olive oil liberally in the dough and allowing the dough to rise well for that airy structure. Toppings can range from traditional tomato and mozzarella to gourmet options like truffle paste and camembert. This style is perfect for bread lovers who want the satisfaction of pizza with the softness of focaccia, making it a versatile dish for any occasion.
