Dipping powder nails
I went in wanting to treat my natural nails from having overlay for a year plus over my natural long nails and they convinced me a dipping powder would be better than regular gel/manicure omg I listened because they’re right due to strength but I still wanted my natural nails treated first but did they do it absolutely not they proceeded to clean my natural nails and apply the glue/powder. I absolutely hate it!!! It’s not flat, nor smooth, not even natural looking. The clear gel polish and pink dipping powder is very uneven 😞 Im getting the powder removed immediately and back to my overlay
As someone who has experienced different types of nail enhancements, I find dipping powder nails to be a mixed bag. On one hand, they offer impressive strength and durability compared to regular gel manicures, which is perfect for those who want their nails to last longer without chipping. However, from my personal experience, the preparation of natural nails before application is crucial. I’ve had my nails cleaned but not properly treated underneath the powder, which led to an uneven and rough finish that felt far from natural or smooth. It’s important to communicate clearly with your nail technician about your expectations and nail health, especially if you’re transitioning from overlays to dipping powder. Proper nail prep, including gentle buffing and conditioning, can make a huge difference in the final look and feel. Some salons might rush through the prep, causing the powder and glue to cling unevenly. Another tip I learned is to observe the application process closely—if the layers of clear gel polish and powder do not appear uniform, don’t hesitate to ask for adjustments. Unevenness can lead to discomfort and dissatisfaction. Additionally, if you experience any feeling of roughness or if the nails look too thick or unnatural, consider asking for a thinner application or exploring other options like classic gel or traditional overlays. In my case, I decided to remove the dipping powder and return to overlays because I missed the smoother, more natural appearance. While dipping powder nails have their advantages, such as increased durability, they may not suit everyone’s aesthetic preferences or nail condition. Always make sure to weigh the pros and cons and prioritize nail health above all. Sharing these insights might help others avoid the disappointment I encountered and find the nail enhancement that truly fits their style and needs.
