BTO Flat Booking QnA

Booked our BTO a couple of months ago, and I had so many questions prior to the appointment! Despite doing really thorough research on how to prepare for the appointment/things to take note of, there were some questions which I just could not find the answer to. 🥹

Now that I've gone through the process, here are some of the questions I had, with answers based on my appointment experience!!

1️⃣ What is the appointment process like?

- Head to the kiosk machine to collect your appointment slip

- While waiting, you can look at your project's model again!

- Head to your designated counter when your number is called, and the officer would start by explaining some terms/conditions (more so if your project is under the PLH scheme)

- Once the queue number before you selects their unit, the officer would ask you for your selection. They are very strict on ensuring that queue numbers are not skipped during selection. Coming earlier does not mean you would be able to select earlier!

- After selecting your unit, you would need to sign a bunch of documents. Some of these documents are already provided prior to your appointment, so you can print and sign them in advance too.

- Pack all your documents into a thick envelope, and take your iconic green background picture 🤩📸

2️⃣ How long does the appointment take?

Depends on how many questions you have and how long the couple before you takes to select their unit. Ours lasted about 45 mins!

3️⃣ How many appointments are there in a day for a specific project? How many couples would be scheduled in the same time slot as you?

Depends on the density of your project. For ours, we estimated about 6-7 couples called during our time-slot! Had to wait for everyone with queue numbers lower than ours to select first though. So you MIGHT be there a while!

4️⃣ Why does everyone talk about tracking stacks they want on the HDB website? How does one do that?

When you receive your appointment date, you are also given the option to track the availability of up to 8 units. Every time any of your 8 selected units are selected, you would receive an alert email from HDB.

Hope this helps those waiting for their flat booking appointment, and congratulations to all the couples with a queue number! 🫶🏻

... Read moreBooking a BTO flat can feel overwhelming, especially with so many procedures and rules to follow. If you’re wondering about managing your appointment time slot or how to prepare your flat booking materials, here’s a bit more from what I learned. First, it’s crucial to prepare all necessary documents ahead of time. This includes your identification, any forms HDB sent prior to your appointment, and documents related to your eligibility under schemes like PLH if applicable. Having signed printouts ready can save you precious time at the appointment. I found that understanding the appointment flow helped reduce my anxiety. You’ll take a number at a kiosk, then wait your turn for the flat selection counter. Be patient — numbers are called strictly in order, so even if you arrive early, you won’t be able to jump ahead. Tracking stacks of flats on the HDB website was a game-changer for me. You can monitor up to 8 units, and when one is selected, you get an email alert — it’s a handy way to stay informed without constant checking. Also, in case you think about arriving late, note that you can’t jump the queue or have your number skipped, so punctuality is key. I’d also recommend trying to understand how many couples might be in your time slot to mentally prepare for the wait. Lastly, if you’re curious about the costs involved in booking or want to check your booking status online, HDB’s website offers detail that’s good to review before the appointment. Overall, being well-prepared and informed made my experience smooth and much less stressful, and I hope sharing this can help you too!

Hey! In point 1 you stated that there are some documents to sign on the selection day/ prior to the selection day if we were to sign it ourselves. May I ask will it be fine going without the form ? Or do we need to fill the form up before heading for the appt? Thank you!

First HDB appointment- flat selection day :)
Hi hi! :) My husband and I just attended our first HDB appointment to select our unit. We applied under the Married Child Priority Scheme (MCPS), which gives us a better chance of getting a flat since we’ll be living within 4km of my parents. We brought my parents along so it’d be easier for
