... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to Nagano and love fresh fruit, don't miss out on the blueberry picking experience at Morinohatake The Blueberry Tourist Farm. I found it fascinating how each blueberry variety has its own unique flavor—this definitely made the picking more enjoyable and educational. The farm charges a 2,000 yen entrance fee which lets you pick unlimited blueberries during your visit. If you want to bring more home, they offer additional berries for purchase. The relaxed atmosphere means you can stay as long as you like, making it perfect for families or anyone wanting to spend a peaceful day outdoors. Besides picking blueberries, the scenic location surrounded by lush greenery adds to the charm, providing a great backdrop for photos and a nice break from busy city life. For those using public transportation, the farm is about a 20-minute drive from Nagano JR station, so renting a car or using a local taxi might be easiest. Also, the farm is very family-friendly, so I saw lots of kids enjoying the experience. If you want to extend your fruit picking adventure, Nagano offers other fruit lands such as Azumino Fruit Land. Combining these spots makes for a fantastic itinerary focused on fresh local produce. For added convenience, consider checking if there are any local guide programs available to help you explore the region more thoroughly. Overall, Morinohatake’s blueberry picking is a must-do Nagano activity, giving you a unique taste of the region’s agriculture and plenty of fresh berries to enjoy right away or take home.

Nozawa Onsen had been on my radar for a while, and I’m so glad we finally made it happen! Nestled in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, this quaint little town is a rare combo of solid ski slopes and an onsen culture that dates back to the Edo period. We were there for 5 days in December, and it h

Skip Kamakura and head here instead! 🌊🚞
Located in Amaharashi Coast, this spot offers a chill, scenic coastal vibe while still giving off that iconic Kamakura vibe from “Can this love be translated?” Quieter and far less crowded, this place is truly a gem ✨ Take a long stroll along the coastline, and head up to the cafe overlookin

Nakasendo in early Dec Year End Japan
Changing up my Nakansendo itinerary. Decided to change dates and head directly from Tokyo to Nagoya to Nakatsugawa - lugging luggage along, but the hotel replied we could leave luggage there on checkout and come back to collect the next day. That’s one key reason to pick Nakatsugawa instead
