11day China 🇨🇳 Dongbei/Harbin Itinerary

Visited over 5 cities in the span of 11 days and sharing my itinerary!! Scroll pics to see ➡️

It was super cold so really prep well! We had -27c weather on Christmas eve and I couldn't even take my hands out to use my phone 🥲

Layering tips:

- Merino wool top and bottoms inner wear

- Good fleece or fur sweater

- Thick puffer jacket

- Windproof (skiing) gloves (must)

- Face mask ( to block the cold air)

- Beanie/ear muffs

Rmb to buy the heat pack and paste on your body/shoe BEFORE you leave the hotel. The heatpack will take longer to work outside in the cold.

... Read moreExploring Dongbei means embracing its diverse cities and stunning winter landscapes. Aside from Harbin’s famous Ice Festival, places like Mudanjiang and Yanji offer unique cultural and natural experiences worth planning for. When traveling around Dongbei, transport options vary—from convenient high-speed trains connecting major cities to buses for reaching smaller towns. Booking early helps secure the best schedules. Also, while layering is crucial, don’t overlook accessories like thermal socks and moisture-wicking base layers to stay comfortable indoors and outdoors. A portable hand warmer is a lifesaver during sightseeing. For meals, Dongbei cuisine features hearty dishes like dumplings and stewed meats perfect after a day out in the cold. Trying local food markets and street vendors can add an authentic flavor to your journey. Lastly, make sure your phone and camera batteries are kept warm to prevent quick drainage in freezing temperatures. Many travelers recommend carrying spare batteries inside your jacket.

I’m a Northerner who has been living in Singapore for 15 years ❄️🇸🇬 In winter 2023, I brought my Singapore family to Harbin for a full 2 weeks — their very first snow, first -20°C, first ice slides, first iron-pot stew… and they LOVED it! If you’re planning a trip to Harbin but don’t know: 🧥 W

We stayed at Xiyu Apartment in end December and personally, I found it a pretty comfortable stay. 📍 Super near the Shimaodadao metro station, which is just one station away from Ice & Snow World station! 🧺 We chose the room type in the 2nd pic because it came with a washing machine (very
