“Health” is always going to be a work in progress. Give yourself grace and take it slow!
Too many times I have tried to implement extreme changes to better my health but those were never things I could do long term.
Rather than focusing on one specific goal, I try to think about what I can do to make small, compounding changes for the long term 💖
I’ve personally found that treating health as an ongoing journey rather than a destination profoundly changes the experience. For years, I fell into the trap of extreme diets or intense fitness plans, expecting rapid results. But maintaining those drastic changes was nearly impossible, and I often felt frustrated when I slipped up or didn’t see immediate progress. What helped me the most was shifting my mindset to progress over perfection. Instead of targeting a single goal like a specific weight or pant size, I focus on small, manageable habits that compound over time. Something as simple as drinking more water daily, prioritizing sleep, or adding short walks into my routine made a difference and were sustainable. This approach aligns with the idea that even if you reach a goal, you have to maintain the behaviors that got you there. Treating health as a practice to nurture your body and mind daily allows for flexibility and reduces pressure. It’s important to give yourself grace and recognize that setbacks are part of the journey. Moreover, incorporating gentle self-care and body care routines further supports well-being. Activities like stretching, mindfulness, or skincare rituals become moments of love toward yourself, reinforcing motivation and healing. Ultimately, health is never a fixed state but a lifelong, evolving process. Accepting this brings a sense of peace and encourages us to keep moving forward with kindness for ourselves.
