3 tips for The Plague in Dead By Daylight!

2025/1/23 Edited to

... Read morePlaying The Plague in Dead By Daylight can be incredibly rewarding once you understand her unique power, Vile Purge. When I first started, I struggled to get consistent downs, but by focusing on a few key strategies, my gameplay completely transformed. Let me share how I really put those initial tips into practice and what else I learned along the way to dominate as the Plague. Firstly, let's talk more about the 'flick while puking' technique. This isn't just about spreading the stream; it's about maximizing your infection potential! When a survivor is juking or trying to dodge your Vile Purge, a quick flick of your camera can effectively expand the cone of sickness, making it much harder for them to escape untouched. I found that practicing this in custom games really helped me get the muscle memory down. It’s particularly effective in open areas or when survivors are running in a straight line, as you can cover a wider path. Don't be afraid to experiment with the speed of your flick; sometimes a slow, deliberate movement is better than a quick snap. Remember, even a single drop of puke can start the infection timer! Next, let's dive deeper into puking on any interactable object. This is a game-changer for map control. I used to only focus on infecting survivors, but then I realized the true power of infecting gens, windows, pallets, totems, and chests. Survivors often rely on these objects for safety and progress. By tainting a generator, you force survivors to either work on it while getting infected or cleanse, which can lead to a powerful Corrupt Purge for you! For me, infecting high-traffic loops with tainted pallets or windows has been incredibly effective. It forces survivors to make tough choices: either take the infection or abandon the loop. This passive infection strategy saves you chase time and keeps pressure on the entire team, making it easier to get everyone sick across the map. Perhaps the most crucial advice I learned, and something I often remind myself, is 'don't overchase early in the game.' This was a huge mistake I made often. My goal now is to 'puke on a survivor and move on to someone else.' The beauty of The Plague is that you don't need to commit to long chases for the first hook. Your primary objective early on should be to spread as much infection as possible. Think of yourself as a walking bio-hazard! By infecting multiple survivors, you force them into a dilemma: cleanse and give you Corrupt Purge, or remain infected and eventually become broken, taking damage from a single hit. In my experience, once two or three survivors are infected, the game plan becomes much clearer. The pressure builds naturally, and it's then that you can start focusing on securing downs. Don't waste precious time chasing one healthy survivor for ages when you could be infecting three. Finally, let's talk about managing cleansing. This is where The Plague truly shines. If survivors cleanse, you gain Corrupt Purge – a powerful ability for quick downs. If they don't cleanse, they will become broken and they will be downed in one hit, which is equally devastating. As the killer, you want to be aware of where the pools of devotion are and anticipate survivors' movements. I always try to keep track of who is infected and who isn't. Sometimes, letting them stay infected for a while is actually better, especially if you can get them all to the 'broken' state. Other times, forcing a cleanse by downing an infected survivor near a pool can be a great way to activate Corrupt Purge and apply immediate pressure elsewhere. Mastering the balance between encouraging infection and triggering Corrupt Purge is key to truly mastering The Plague. I hope these insights help you become an even more formidable killer in Dead By Daylight!
