Where to stay? 🏨

I highly recommend staying near the Pantheon or Trastevere.

I stayed near the Pantheon — it's incredibly convenient. Most landmarks are within walking distance, so you're right in the heart of ancient Rome. It’s the perfect hub for exploring cobblestone streets and iconic plazas ✨

Rome
5/8 Edited to

... Read moreTraveling to Rome over three days offers an unmatched blend of history, art, and vibrant culture that I’ve found truly captivating. On my recent trip, I followed a similar route that maximized my time and kept everything walkable — an absolute must given Rome’s charming cobblestone streets. Starting your journey near the Colosseum and Roman Forum sets the perfect historic tone. Spending around two hours exploring the Colosseum and adjoining Palatine Hill allows you to walk through the heart of the ancient empire with fascinating stories behind every stone. Tickets can be bought online to save time, and the combo ticket including the Roman Forum is a great value. Vatican City is another highlight for me. Booking tickets to the Vatican Museums ahead of time is crucial since lines can be long. The vast art collections and the Sistine Chapel ceiling are breathtaking. Afterwards, wandering through St. Peter’s Basilica gives you a serene and spiritual experience without any cost, though climbing the dome offers incredible views for a small fee. Exploring picturesque piazzas like Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain during the evenings gives a magical sunset ambiance unique to Rome. Tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain is more than tradition — it’s a promise to return! On your last day, don’t miss the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps; they capture the essence of Rome’s artistic and social life. Choosing to stay near the Pantheon was a game-changer for convenience. Being in the heart of the city meant all landmarks were just a short stroll away. Alternatively, Trastevere offers an authentic vibe with great dining options and lively nightlife. Dining at a local trattoria there is an experience I highly recommend to taste traditional Roman dishes like carbonara. Lastly, for budget-conscious travelers, utilize airfare and hotel deals available online — I frequently found excellent prices through affiliate links shared on travel profiles. Planning ahead and staying central really helped me get the most out of those few days without stress. This walking itinerary is a well-rounded way to experience Rome’s timeless beauty, charm, and culinary delights, all while allowing room for spontaneous explorations down those charming streets.
