DeceptionLies & Betrayal … part 2

Elliot’s jaw tightened. The room felt too small, like the walls were closing in on both of them. His arm didn’t shake, but his finger eased just enough on the trigger to show hesitation.

“So you set him up?” he asked low. “You ain’t answer my question.”

Natasha’s eyes darted to the gun, then to his face. Tears spilled over, but her voice hardened underneath the sobs.

“I didn’t pull the trigger,” she said quickly. “I swear on my baby. I didn’t kill him.”

Elliot took a step closer, the barrel pressing against her forehead now.

“But you knew who would,” he snapped. “You knew what streets you was calling on.”

Natasha slid down the wall until she was sitting on the floor, hands still raised, belly protruding under her oversized hoodie.

“He kept saying he was done,” she cried. “That he was moving on, that the money wasn’t worth the drama. You think I wasn’t scared? I was about to be a single mother with nothing. I just wanted him scared enough to stay.”

Elliot let out a bitter laugh.

“Fear don’t make men stay,” he said. “It makes them disappear. Or end up in a hospital bed.”

Silence sat heavy between them. The only sound was Natasha’s breathing and the distant sirens outside, like the city itself was mourning Derick.

“You ruined everything,” Elliot said finally. His voice dropped, calm but dangerous. “That was my brother. We grew up together. You don’t get to cry now like this wasn’t your doing.”

“I loved him,” Natasha whispered.

Elliot lowered the gun just a fraction, shaking his head slowly.

“Love ain’t control,” he said. “And love don’t make calls that end in blood.”

He stepped back toward the door, eyes never leaving her.

“You better pray that baby yours don’t grow up asking questions,” he warned. “Because the truth always comes back around. Always.”

With that, he turned and walked out, slamming the door so hard the frame rattled—leaving Natasha on the floor, clutching her stomach, realizing that fear had cost her far more than Derick ever could’ve given.

The gunshot cracked through the apartment, loud enough to rattle the windows.

Natasha screamed as she hit the floor, her hands flying to her stomach. Warm blood soaked through her fingers, pooling beneath her. Her cries turned hoarse, panicked, animal.

“My baby… my baby!” she sobbed, rocking back and forth, breath coming in sharp bursts. “Please—please—”

Elliot stood frozen for half a second, the smell of gunpowder thick in the air. Blood dotted his shirt, his hands, his conscience. His jaw clenched hard as memories of Derick laughing on the court flashed through his mind—alive, careless, breathing.

“This wasn’t how it was supposed to go,” he muttered, more to himself than to her.

Natasha reached for him weakly, her fingers barely lifting off the floor.

“Help me,” she cried. “I’ll tell you everything—names, numbers—please—”

Elliot took a step back instead.

“You already told enough,” he said flatly.

Sirens wailed louder now, growing closer. Someone in the building must’ve heard. Elliot wiped his hand on his jeans, smearing blood, then glanced at Natasha one last time as she lay there shaking, blood spreading fast, her sobs fading into desperate whimpers.

“Derick begged you to let him go,” Elliot said quietly. “You should’ve listened.”

He turned and walked out, his footsteps steady, controlled—leaving behind a silent apartment, a dying woman, and a future that would never get the chance to breathe.

... Read moreThis story vividly depicts the devastating impact that fear and deception can have on relationships, especially when control becomes mistaken for love. From personal experience, situations where emotions run high and trust is fragile often lead to irreversible consequences. I've seen firsthand how the desire to protect or control someone—sometimes driven by desperation—can spiral into actions that cause more harm than good. The notion that fear can keep someone close is a dangerous misconception; often, it results in loss and long-lasting trauma. In the narrative, Natasha's fear of abandonment and impending single motherhood pushes her into making desperate choices, illustrating how vulnerability can cloud judgment. This resonates with many who have faced difficult decisions under pressure, highlighting the complexity of human motivations and the unintended fallout. The story also touches on themes of accountability and the harsh realities of betrayal, where love is not enough to prevent tragic decisions. Beyond the fiction, this reminds us that true love involves respect, honesty, and freedom—not control or intimidation. Understanding these dynamics can be crucial for readers facing similar real-life challenges or seeking insight into complex emotional situations. Remember, open communication and support systems are vital in navigating fear and mistrust. This narrative serves as a powerful cautionary tale about the costs of deception, underscoring the importance of empathy and integrity in our relationships.

The Fault Is in the Deception — Not Your Trust

Deception doesn’t look dangerous at first.
It feels comforting… convincing… even peaceful. People say: “It helps me.” “It feels accurate.” “It gives me peace.” But the enemy’s strategy is simple— deceive first… destroy later. What starts as curiosity can slowly turn into: fear, confusion, torment, oppression, and bondage. Not e
