Our best three places to try - Koh Lipe
1. You’re spoilt for choice on Koh Lipe when it comes to amazing food, coffee, bars etc
2. My husband eats everything but i’m a vegetarian and i was so happy to discover loads of options for me too!
3. If you love fresh fish, you are going to be in heaven on Koh Lipe - the fish BBQ’s are gold.
4. Most Thai restaurants will accommodate vegetarians by altering their existing menu slightly (just get up google translate and politely ask if they don’t mind)
5. You must visit The Elephant restaurant on walking street (not necessarily Thai cuisine) but wow is their food so good! And great for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike (as well as vegans)

Having spent several days exploring the culinary delights of Koh Lipe, I can confidently say that the island is a paradise for food lovers, whether you prefer vegetarian dishes or fresh seafood. One of the highlights for me was the incredible variety of vegetarian-friendly options available throughout the island. Many Thai restaurants are happy to customize their dishes to suit vegetarian and even vegan diets—sometimes all it takes is a polite request via Google Translate, which was surprisingly effective! A standout experience was dining at The Elephant restaurant on Walking Street. This place truly impressed with its diverse menu catering to meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans alike. I especially enjoyed their homemade hummus and fresh, vibrant rolls that offered a wonderful burst of flavors. Meanwhile, my companion raved about what he called the best hamburger on the island, showing how this spot bridges different dietary preferences neatly. For seafood lovers, Koh Lipe is nothing short of heaven. The island’s famous fish BBQs are an unmissable treat. I loved visiting the beachfront BBQ grills where the catch of the day is cooked to perfection right before your eyes. The freshness of the fish pairs wonderfully with local herbs and spices—a must-try if you’re a fan of seafood. If you’re looking to treat yourself to a more upscale dining experience, the Ten Moons Resort restaurant, Serendipity, offers exquisite dishes with a stunning view. The elegant setting and high-quality cuisine make it a perfect spot for a special evening. Overall, Koh Lipe’s food scene is wonderfully diverse and welcoming. Whether you’re over 50 like me and prefer calm, relaxed meals or you’re an adventurous traveler eager to try local flavors, there is something for everyone. Don’t miss out on these amazing places to eat and drink on this beautiful island—you’ll leave with a happy belly and many fond memories!
