Getting Dressed Saved My Mood

Lately I realized… me not getting myself together was making me depressed.

So I started doing something simple: putting on clothes.

Not for a picture. Not to go anywhere. Just to feel like me again. 🩷✨

And y’all… it’s been helping so much.

Mental health is REAL.

Sometimes the smallest routines a cute outfit, a little skincare, brushing your hair can shift your whole mood.

Question:

Do you notice a difference in your mood when you get dressed, even if you’re staying home? 🤍

... Read moreYou know, it’s funny how something as simple as putting on a nice outfit can completely change your day. I used to think dressing up was only for going out, but staying home more often really highlighted how much my mood was tied to how I presented myself, even if it was just for me. It’s not about being perfect or Instagram-ready; it's about treating yourself with respect and care, which I've found is a huge part of feeling like a confident woman. The psychological impact is real. When I slip into an outfit that makes me feel good – maybe a soft white off-shoulder sweater that feels cozy yet chic, or even just some comfy yet stylish camouflage shorts instead of worn-out sweats – it's like I’m telling my brain, 'Okay, we’re ready for whatever today brings.' It builds a sense of routine and intention, signaling a shift from sleep mode to productivity or self-care mode. It’s that little boost of self-worth that can turn a sluggish morning into a genuinely productive and happy one, often ending with me feeling so good I just have to take a quick mirror selfie, not to post, but just to capture that genuine smile for myself. But it’s not just about clothes. I've found that pairing that outfit with a quick skincare routine – just a cleanser, moisturizer, and maybe a little SPF – and brushing my hair can amplify the effect. It’s these small, consistent acts of self-care that accumulate and make a big difference. You don't need a full face of makeup or an elaborate hairstyle. Sometimes, a simple ponytail or letting your hair down naturally is all it takes to feel more 'put together' and ready to face your day, even if your 'day' is just a series of tasks around the house. If you’re struggling to find the motivation, start small. Don't pressure yourself to wear something uncomfortable. Focus on fabrics and styles that genuinely make you feel good. Maybe it's a flowy dress, your favorite pair of jeans, or even just a well-fitting t-shirt. The key is to choose something that makes you feel presentable and boosts your inner confidence. I often find myself catching a glimpse in the mirror, and seeing that smiling woman looking back at me, feeling good in her skin, makes all the difference. It's a reminder that even in the quiet moments at home, we deserve to feel our best. This simple habit has truly become my personal peace ritual, helping me embrace a more positive outlook daily.

A person's back shows long, light-colored damaged hair, with an inset close-up revealing severe thinning and breakage on the scalp. The image highlights the impact of 6 years of bleaching, hair extension damage, and diabetic hair thinning and loss.
This image explains how avoiding heat helps hair recovery. High temperatures alter hair's protein structure, convert α-keratin to β-keratin, weaken hair, open cuticles, and strip natural moisture and oils, leading to dryness and damage.
The image illustrates the benefits of using a shower filter for hair health. It removes contaminants like chlorine, lead, and heavy metals that can damage hair, making it rough and dry, and supports a healthy scalp for growth and shine.
How I saved my damaged hair
I absolutely destroyed my hair. I used to bleach my hair every 8 weeks for about 6 years and being a type 1 diabetic (I was newly diagnosed and had uncontrolled blood sugar in the beginning) led to my hair having constant breakage, thinning, never growing, and feeling like straw. I thought the cau

I do not want getting ready to feel like a full-time job. 🫠 For a linen dress and messy bun, I would rather handle body care before the outfit even goes on. Now I use URperf Hair Removal Cream before showering when I want smoother-feeling skin. The 8-10 minute step feels realistic, not dramatic.
