During the celebrations, it’s common to see red envelopes, or 红包, distributed as tokens of luck and goodwill, which is echoed in phrases like 恭喜发财红包拿来. Houses and public spaces are decorated with banners featuring these blessings, creating a vibrant and auspicious environment. Music performances, such as those by groups like 金岛乐团, add to the joyous mood, with traditional and modern tunes energizing the festivities. Participating in Chinese New Year festivities, whether by joining neighborhood events or family gatherings, has always brought a sense of renewal and hope. The customs, from waiting for the arrival of the God of Wealth to enjoying delicious meals, offer a chance to reflect on opportunities (机遇就来) and set positive intentions for the year ahead. These personal and communal traditions highlight not only the cultural heritage but also the universal desire for prosperity and happiness.
