ways to decorate your spread using washi tapes

here are some ways i like to decorate my spreads with my washi tapes

1. 1/3 rule - the most basic, fail-proof way of layering

2. pattern over blank - my favorite to use is the Daiso pastel brown washi

3. pattern over grids - if you don’t have blank washi to use as background, grids would look nice too! I like the Muji navy blue dotted grid ones!

... Read moreWashi tapes are a versatile tool for anyone looking to enhance their journaling and scrapbooking experience. The '1/3 rule' is a popular technique for layering, which involves stacking your tapes into thirds to create a visually appealing design. This method is ideal for beginners and can easily be adapted as you gain more confidence in your decoration skills. Another fantastic approach is to apply patterns over blank spaces, which can make your spreads more vibrant and thematic. For instance, the Daiso pastel brown washi tape is particularly favored for adding warmth and character to any layout. If you’re working with grid paper, using patterned washi on backgrounds can break up monotony and add interesting textures. The Muji navy blue dotted grid tape, for example, not only complements the colors but also offers a clean canvas to work with. Besides these methods, you can consider incorporating other design elements such as stickers or doodles that align with the washi tapes you choose. This not only personalizes your spreads but also showcases your personality and creativity. Mixing and matching different washi tape designs can lead to unique outcomes that reflect personal journeys in journaling. Exploring washi tapes allows for a fun and stress-relieving hobby, perfect for both staying organized and indulging in your artistic talents while documenting your thoughts and experiences.
